Author, researcher, and teacher Angela Reich will present her inspiration and research journey for her new historical fiction, SHIPWRECK OF HOPES. A docent at the Fire Island Lighthouse and sailor on the long Island Maritime Museum's 1888 oyster sloop, Reich speaks of Long Island's Maritime history and the sinking of the Elizabeth off Fire Island in 1850, in which famous writer Margaret Fuller was killed. As a Ph.D. in Literature from SUNY Stony Brook, Reich illuminates the process from research and discovery of Long Island Maritime history, the life of noted journalist Margaret Fuller, and the writer's journey from historical fact to fictional portrayal.

Angela Reich, author, researcher and educator shares her knowledge of Maritime History and her research journey for her historic novel SHIPWRECK OF HOPES. The story of the wreck of the ship Elizabeth in 1850 off the shores of Fire Island, NY, SHIPWRECK OF HOPES is ripe with research on the developing shore towns of the region, the involvement of the local residents, and the historic development of the Life Saving System and the Lighthouse system. In addition, a famous passenger, American writer Margaret Fuller was on board, returning from Europe after her involvement in the Italian Revolution of 1848. SHIPWRECK OF HOPES is rich in historical content and lore.
