Writing with Pictures Workshop Literature- Authors,

In my program the students learn the nuts and bolts of picture book making, from what the jacket's job is to how and why I choose the illustrations for a particular manuscript I'm working on. I share with the children everything I utilize while creating a picture book : rough sketches, story board, dummy book, and final artwork that actually goes in the book, as well the art I created that didn't make it in. Then the students become the authors as I illustrate the story they conjour up in a round robin storytelling session. I sketch it all out on a large pad of paper, then the students get to keep my art to make up stories of their own!
