visit www.day-in-clay.com Day in Clay’ is diverse multi-cultural K-12 programs (incl. Staff Development & Special needs) that join hands-on projects and demonstrations with art history and culture. Day in Clay will transform your art room into a true artist studio, giving your students a real taste of the creative process, and illustrate how 'design, form and function’ relate across disciplines. A custom-designed program to fit your curricula in English, social studies, arts & science will bring new meaning to your lesson plan. Students may explore Greek vase painting, African/Japanese masks, Native American ceramics, or participate in group projects such as tile-based murals. References from participating schools are readily provided to affirm our results on exceeding expectations. Day in Clay is an opportunity to discover how individual expression fits within the continuum of art history. Staff development training is also available. The Multicultural Potters Wheel program is available for assembly type groups. (50+ people)

Theme Based Tile Mural Program Visual Arts- Other
VISIT- www.day-in-clay.com Tile murals are a great vehicle for students to work individually for the collective communal goal. The end is greater than the sum of the parts. These tiles can also be used as an architectural element permanently installed in the school setting. There are many subjects and imagery that are very poignant today that can take a subject from the past and make it relevant today. A Native American cultural connection or the imagery of a rain forest theme. Each class will be responsible for creating there own individual tile and painting it and preparing it for the first firing. Each individual tile will be treated as a single work of art that is going to be used and assembled to create a whole mural. The whole will be greater than the sum of the parts. Writing poetry could be incorporated into the mural as well as a literary element to the project. Sources of themes: The themes can manifest and be adapted to many art forms.  Music  Universal themes  Peace  Our Fragile Planet  Rain forest – social and ecological elements  Narratives – story telling  Memorials – people and events
$1001- $3000
