Parent/Toddler Workshop Resource Person Disability Awareness,
Life Skills- Parenting,
Music
This session is offered as part of the popular in-house library program known as the Parent/Toddler or Parent/Child Workshop. Dara Linthwaite will be happy to talk with parents and caregivers about ways to use music with their young children and answer any questions they may have. Dara has worked as a kindergarten teacher in a private school for gifted children, as well as a music teacher in a preschool for children with developmental disabilities. If you'd like, let Dara and her guitar conduct circle time for the last 15-20 minutes of the program and watch the little ones dance and sing with glee!
$101- $200
Rock the Library with a Teddy Bear's Picnic! Life Skills- Food,
Literature- Other,
Music
Invite the preschoolers of your library to bring their favorite Teddy Bear or other 'lovey' to this musical teddy Bear's Picnic! We'll be learning finger plays about hungry bears, participate with packing healthy pretend foods for a picnic, and rocking the library with songs about this "picnic time for Teddy Bears" as the song lyrics go! All music is live, performed by Miss Dara and the children, never pre-recorded.
$101- $200
Rock-a-Bye Baby: Lullabies for Little Ones Life Skills- Parenting,
Music
These sessions are most appropriate for caregivers and their youngest babies, usually from birth to nine months, or prewalkers. Miss Dara begins each session with simple songs that encourage parent/infant interaction. After so much activity, babies and grownups alike are ready to settle down to some serious cuddling while they listen to Miss Dara sing traditional and modern lullabies to gentle guitar accompaniment. Parents will learn child development information before the songs so they can understand the value of these simple and loving musical interactions with their babies enough so they will want to continue singing at home.
$101- $200
Rockin' the Swamp Life Skills- Other,
Music,
Nature- Environment
The swamps are alive with the music of all the creatures that inhabit it. The children will take an imaginary, musical trip through the swamp and meet many of these creatures through songs, finger plays, and stories. They will take turns playing frog guiros (a special musical instrument) and make their own music with cricket clickers.
$101- $200
