Based on two songs by award-winning songwriter Christine Lavin, AMOEBA HOP and HOLE IN THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA . They tell of the tiny ecosystems in a drop of clean water and the gulf of Mexico, a large ecosystem that was polluted in the Oil Spill of 2010. Binary vision (of a paramecium), wildlife rehabilitation, and clean energy are all part of this slide and video presentation. In conjunction with this program, classroom workshops are sometimes conducted where the students create pinwheels to illustrate wind energy. Workshops are approximately 45 minutes.

A simply spectacular collection of rainforest butterflies and moths, many collected by the presenter, will provide a glimpse of the stunning beauty and infinite variety of tropical rainforest life, tropical rainforest climate & geography, and biological concepts relating to these rainforest creatures are covered. A few rainforest photos are shown and actual rainforest experiences are related. Presenter to audience and audience to presenter questions throughout the program. Presenter has explored the world's tropical rainforests for approximately 1,000 days: Australia, Borneo, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guyana, Malay Peninsula, New Guinea, Peru, Sulawesi and Venezuela; and led a half dozen major scientific expeditions for the Smithsonian and Field Museums.

Prepare for takeoff as Central New York magician Ron Cain launches his new “Martian Magic Show” this summer! Ron appears as Cosmo the Conjuror, a Martian magician who travels the galaxy performing tricks and collecting stories. Naturally, he loves libraries and admires the 2019 New York state library summer reading program theme, “A Universe of Stories.” Throughout the 45-minute show, Cosmo demonstrates Martian powers like telepathy and psychokinesis. He tells tales and shares illusions picked up from visits to various planets. Volunteers help him rescue the Man in the Moon and have fun playing characters from Mercury, Venus & Pluto. Cosmo also teaches children facts about space travel and encourages them to explore the library’s “universe of stories." A former teacher and Syracuse University graduate, Ron specializes in educational magic for schools and libraries. Children participate in shows promoting reading, history, science and the environment. He also teaches magical workshops and classes on everything from Magic to Monsterology.

Our educational programs allow learners of all ages to see live birds of prey up-close and to learn about the impressive adaptations and behaviors of these remarkable birds. We also discuss the conservation issues that impact them and how to make a difference. Several different Bird of Prey programs are available with discussion on the different species behaviors and habitats along with hands-on learning with real feathers, talons and bones, as well as information on local wildlife, wildlife rehabilitation and what to do if you find injured or orphaned wildlife. We also offer owl pellet dissection programs. All Programs are designed according to the audience. Special requests are always considered

A Celebration of Nature and all the simple things we can do to help. Tales for the Earth is a beloved performance that is both educational and entertaining. It explores topics such as Water Conservation, Recycling and Wildlife Protection. Like all of Diane's programs, the performance is tailored to suit each specific audience. Depending on the age range stories may include: What Now, Cloacina?, Diane's hilarious water conservation story about a water sprite who travels through the sewage system in search of her pond or Boy Who Loved the Swamp, based on the true story of a 5th Grade student who saves his favorite nature spot from development. In addition contemporary tales explore ways to foster a whole Earth ethic. What shines through the entire presentation is a love and respect for our place in nature; with many ideas communicated about how we can create a difference.
