Miguel Cossio was born in Guanajuato, Mexico, to a family of folk artist and performers from whom he learned the many crafts, rituals and traditions of his community and region, especially those associated with Celebrations. Now living in New York, Miguel has taught arts-in-education programs in schools, arts centers and museums, such as the American Museum of Natural History and the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian in New York City. Miguel offers interactive cultural programs that bring to life the magic of the traditional folk arts from Mexico and Latin America. Programs include hands-on workshops (Visual Arts), slide show, folk art displays, audience participation, Spanish conversation, storytelling, games and more! Masks for Carnival; Papel Picado (Paper Cut Outs) for 5 de Mayo Celebration; Paper Toys for Childrens Day; Dancing Skeleton Stick Puppets for Day of the Dead; Pinatas for Posadas; Crowns, Paper Jewelry and Accessories for 3 Kings Day; are some of the hands-on activities participants can create while learning about these incredible traditions! As the people of the World come into ever closer and closer relationship, it is most important that Americans have full sympathy with, and understanding for all Nations. One of the most important ways of understanding any Nation is to know its folklore. For in its folklore, every people have embodied much of their culture and wisdom...
