The Spoon Man wants to spoon you. He is an interactive musical family comedian. In 1986, he performed to Mikhail Gorbachev while in Russia. He also performed for former U.S. President Gerald Ford and Mr. Rogers. His totally clean act (never uses dirty silverware) with audience participation is ideal for libraries. The first thing your patrons will do after seeing his performance, is run to the kitchen and grab a pair of spoons. He also offers for tweens, teens and adults a BYOS (bring your own spoons) workshop. His book Spoon Boy was published in 2008. Read about his book on his website. The Nego Gato Afro-Brazilian Music and Dance Ensemble bring to their audiences the rich African influenced rhythms and dances of Salvador, Bahia, Brazi--areas known for customs deeply rooted in the traditions and spirituality of ancestral Africa. The ensemble was formed by the Artistic Director, Jose Sena, known professionally as Nego Gato, to share his experience of growing up on the streets of Salvador immersed in the magical sounds of street music, Carnaval and Candomble ceremonies. We present Living History and are accompanied by live percussion.

We are a performing company of six storytellers. We usually perform in pairs or individually. We pride ourselves on our large repertoire of folktales from around the world which enables us to tailor programs for any theme and for any audience. We have a special interest in seeking and telling tales of pioneer New York State. We are all children's librarians with rich experience in children's literature and storytelling. We often combine booktalking with storytelling for programs to match the NYS summer reading theme.
