Participants bring cardboard of all types, Jay supplies tape, ping-pong balls, kid-friendly tools, and plenty of challenges and inspiration for the kids (and families). Any age can participate. A great activity for the entire family, and finished products, or works-in-progress can be taken home. A house, a maze, an arcade game, a super-tunnel, a robot, a wild-animal, a mask, a table, a car - the possibilities are endless!

Angora rabbits provide the softest fiber for spinning, and enjoy being groomed to remove their long continuously growing coats. After making their very own drop spindle, patrons get to brush rabbits to collect fiber. Then they can spin the softest yarn for themselves and bring it home. Learn proper rabbit care and maintenance, along with information on how to manage your own angora rabbit farm. This program is suitable for summer reading 2017.

Writing/Art in the classroom. For a more intimate hands-on setting, teachers often combine classes(one or two depending on size) to focus on the writing/illustrating aspects of creating a childrens' book, whether it is a novel or picture book. Materials passed around in this workshop for a personal experience and therefore exposing students up close to what is like to be an author/artist of books. Participation in making a book dummy for each student. I do an age-appropriate reading of my work. I write for all ages: Fiction, young stories, poetry, non-fiction, cookbooks,chapter books and novels.

Learn how to create beautiful jewelry from the wings of a butterfly! Delicate work involves cutting a small piece of wing, mounting it in a sterling silver plating, and covering it with waterproof apoxy. Necklaces, Rings, Bracelets, Charms, Earrings, Bookmarks, Table Weights. Pieces must dry overnight, and may be taken home by the participants or kept at the library for a 24 hour period. We will also discuss what types of butterflies we are using as well as their life-cycle. This program is suitable for the 2017 Summer reading program.

Star Wars Jedi Knight Training is a great program for libraries to offer their younger patrons. We offer Star Wars fans a chance to interact with a real Jedi Knight. Ideal for ages 4 – 9, this interactive performance is great for both boys and girls! We lead the children through a series of challenges including Jedi Force Magic, the Laser Balloon Barrage and Jedi Teamwork culminating in an epic lightsaber duel with the Jedi Master himself.

Mary Beth brings feather quills, calligraphy dip pens, parchment, and lettering workbook/style sheets and teaches some calligraphy basics. Participants will watch a short media that introduces them to Jackson Pollock and his art. We then will (in summer- out doors) paint like Pollock. we paint in a controlled manner,and drop cloths and washable paints are used. This "eco-friendly" program uses recycled cardboard, and supplies, brushes, etc.

Kids will learn about 'programmable bodies' and other concepts in cutting-edge robotics while designing and building their own working robots. Popular projects are suitable for ages 8 and up include Motorized ArtBots, Gravity-Powered Mini Robot Walkers, and bendable Robot Hands. Teen projects include Solar Wobblebots. Jay supplies dominos, popsicle sticks, magnets, rubber bands, string, balls, marbles, etc…, set up includes Jay’s basic table and floor-based templates as well as some pre-constructed machines for kids to study and play with, with plenty of opportunities for making, and learning from, their own mistakes. Goofy fun, and real engineering, with a bit of Rube Goldberg history thrown into the mix.
