Just in time for this summer's reading program theme, the Jewel Winds offer a musical program to include: The Water Music Suite (Handel) Three Sea Shanties (Arnold) Guppies from Animal Ditties (Plog) Shenandoah (Traditional), and Five Frogs (Brandon), plus a few additional surprises! Throughout the program, the Jewel Winds performers demonstrate the instruments of the woodwind quintet (flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon and French horn) in fun and interactive ways. The particular program Water and Winds focuses on the use of melody in music. The musicians will guide the audience in a greater understanding of the creation of melodies and how they affect the way we enjoy the music we play and hear. The Jewel Winds are all professionally trained musicians based in Central New York. With degrees in music from either the Eastman School of Music or Ithaca College School of Music, the quintet combines its talents to present concerts that audiences of all ages enjoy.
