Workshop participants will learn about the tradition of the 'Tall Tale,' and then work together to create their own original tale. This program draws upon the Erie Canal for theme and inspiration, and includes songs and dances that reflect our multicultural heritage. We conclude with a joint artist/student performance for the community, wherein participants perform their tale, songs, and dances as an integral part of the artists’ musical theatre performance piece '15 Years on the Erie Canal.' (see related program listings.) The finale performance will be geared towards family audiences, and includes participation for all who attend. It will feature music on the artists’ unusual collection of authentic historical instruments, including squeezeboxes, hurdy gurdy, hammered dulcimer, and more. All participating children will gain hands-on experience in a range of artistic disciplines, including writing, poetry, dance, music, and storytelling/theatre. Children will be exposed to actual Tall Tales of the Erie Canal Era; they will learn factual information about our county’s famous canal; about the era’s multicultural heritage.

Miracles of The Mind! is a wonderful mind reading type show which specifically appeals to topics of great interest to teens and tweens. Along with the mentalism effects, it combines visual demonstrations of mesmerizing magic/illusions, audience participation including an hypnotic group induction, clean comedy, an incredible memory feat and a spellbinding story! Practical advice and techniques are shared with the audience on improving memory, reading speed, visualizing positive test results, intuition and even how to do a mind reading effect themselves! Based on my former career as a Professional Engineer, your fun program can include educational and inspirational themes. Young adults (and their parents) love this, and you'll get all the credit… I offer different versions of this program to accommodate most budgets. The longer version includes a breathtaking musical routine finale, including amazing special effects and optional, safe fire eating! We can also add spectacular illusion(s), such as sawing somebody in half with a power buzz saw or floating them in the air! You really need to see the looks of joy and wonder on the faces of your audience to fully realize the positive impact this show has on your program!

With its interactive play stage, Open Hand Theater engages children ages pre-K - 2nd grade in their own performance of the well-loved story, Hats for Sale. In our version each monkey is a vowel sound. With puppets and a stage, sounds and lots of fun with repetition, children participate in acting out the story.

The Singing, Ringing Tree is an interactive play in which audience members play all 12 characters. The protagonist is a spoiled Spanish princess who is transformed by the power of love. In turn, the princess is visited by the world's greatest musician, athlete, and chef, and is thoroughly unimpressed by their attempts to awe her with their talents. She is equally unmoved by the three gentlemen who travel from afar bearing fine and unusual presents. Later, this malcontent sends the prince, whose gift is his heart, on a dangerous quest for the singing, ringing tree. From there a fox, fish, and fierce monster get in on the act until the end when, in the words of the Duchess from Alice in Wonderland: "'tis love, 'tis love that makes the world go round."

This family program contains some old chestnuts as well as great new Halloween stories full of surprises. All tales are appropriate for family audiences and contain a well-rounded blend of suspense and humor. 'Thank you again for a wonderful Halloween performance. Through mask work, poetry, and swordplay, your students will discover the early stories of Greece. This play is designed to bring students closer to early civilizations by appreciating the similarities that we all share. This play stands alone and is the second is our Greek Mythology for Kids series.

Graham, Michael Puss in Boots Performing Arts- Puppetry
PUSS IN BOOTS This classic fairy tale features beautifully crafted hand puppets, a life-sized Ogre and clever scenic design. In an original adaptation, Puss (in boots) rushes headlong into a series of misadventures, only to discover he is happiest being himself! The Spring Valley Puppet Theater production of “Puss in Boots” mixes merriment and message in a new approach to this feline favorite. This show if followed by a demonstration of some of the puppets, both in schools and public performances.
