In the old days, single people often relied on friends and family to introduce them to potential partners. As we well recall, this introduction was greeted with a variety of emotions, from down-right fear to in-the-clouds excitement. It was known as the “blind date.” Today, the blind date is often replaced by online dating and what our friends and family often did for us in the past the computer now does. Whether you have been online for years, in the “should-I-really-do-this?” phase, or somewhere in between, this seminar provides you with information, caveats, step-by-step instruction and encouragement. Motivational speaker Constance Hallinan Lagan discusses the five top-rated online dating sites, photos, profiles and profile headers, winking versus e-mailing, phone conversations, the first meeting, conversation starters, online dating scams, and online dating safety tips.

Central New York magician Ron Cain takes young readers on an imaginary journey to ancient Greece. The 45-minute program combines an Olympic-style emphasis on sports with Greek myths and legends. Cain tells the audience he needs help finding the ultimate champion of his Olymp-Trick Games. The contenders are Greek gods, goddesses and heroes. Each must perform a magic trick related to an Olympic event. Children volunteer to play the contestants during the show. Will Heracles (Hercules) best everyone in illusions involving feats of strength? Is Artemis faster at sleight-of-hand than her twin brother, Apollo? Can greedy King Midas magically win the gold in any event? Cain is a former history teacher who recently traveled to Greece to visit Panathenaic Stadium, site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. The ancient Greeks valued physical fitness and sports, which prompted them to create the Olympic Games more than 2,700 years ago. They also were great thinkers and writers. Cain hopes his show will inspire young people to visit their local library to read about Greek history and mythology.

Paul, LoriAnn CHAIR YOGA for SENIORS with LoriAnn Paul, Certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher Health & Fitness- Sports,
Health & Fitness- Other,
Life Skills- Other
I was first introduced to the powerful healing art of Yoga more than 35 years ago, and I desire to share my expertise and passion with you! My Chair Yoga classes for seniors incorporate gentle stretching and modified Yoga postures, adapted to suit the particular needs of each student. The Yoga warm-ups and postures that I teach are designed to gently stretch, tone and strengthen the body, while simultaneously helping to preserve range of motion. Furthermore, regular Yoga practice can be quite effective in helping to relieve the painful symptoms of physical ailments such as Arthritis, which may otherwise compromise one’s quality of life. Students also learn ancient Yoga breathing exercises, which help to strengthen the lungs, heighten mental clarity, calm the nervous system, and improve sleeping patterns among other things. I encourage my students to respect their bodies while exercising, and teach many different variations and modifications of each warm-up and posture, taking into account any special needs they may have. Each class ends with a unique and beautifully relaxing meditation, which varies from one class to another, and which one student sweetly referred to as “the icing on the cake”.
