Intermediate Genealogy: Problem Solving Genealogy
This is one of my most popular programs. New researchers tend to hit a dead end, which discourage them to the point where many of them give up. In this course, I will solve (or explain how they can solve) these problems for them. As I solve each problem, the entire class will learn how to handle it when they hit it.
$101- $200
Genealogy 101 Genealogy
This course explains how to begin a genealogy search -- without spending money. It highlights the excellent free sites available, and the subscription sites available at many libraries. I also go over the basics for starting searches in different countries.
$101- $200
Finding A Story Genealogy,
Literature- Creative Writing
This program focuses on how to find a "good" story to write, beginning with the fundamentals of story-telling. For adults, I often focus on genealogy research or life stories. For teens, life stories often work best, but I introduce them as finding a story that will bring readers into their world and let people see what they see. For children, I teach the fundamentals of what makes a story god, versus boring, and then let their imaginations go wild.
Up to $100
Intermediate Genealogy: Family Stories Genealogy
This course assumes that researchers have begun their research already (otherwise, they need Genealogy 101). In this course, I show them how to find the juicy details that motivated us to begin all this research: lengthy obituaries, prison records, ship logs, etc. This is why we research: to discover the family stories that have been lost to time.
$101- $200
