We will give a short history of Blues and how the Blues became essential to Jazz. This program will present tunes by famous Jazz Musicians like Miles Davis “All Blues”, Horace Silver’s “Señor Blues” and Wes Montgomery’s “West Coast Blues”. We remember Jazz Singers like Nat King Cole (“Route 66), Ray Charles (Georgia on my mind), Peggy Lee (Black Coffee), Joe Williams (Alright OK you win), Billie Holiday (Fine and Mellow) and Dakota Staton (Country Man) who had big hits with Blues songs. We also include some old Blues standards like “Next time I see you,” “Muddy Water” and “Steppin’ out”.
