A Passion for Birds is a comic, interactive, educational show about adaptation. Formerly called, “Birds in Their Habitat” the program uses realistic, handmade masks to explore how different species have evolved different shapes and behaviors to adapt to their environment. Combining his passion for nature and performance, Henry weaves through the crowd acting out the birds while explaining their diversity. Participants then don the masks and soar as Eagles, swim as Puffins, and stalk as Herons. Henry Lappen has been performing comedy for over 25 years. He has been an avid student of nature since childhood. In this show, he combines his love and knowledge of birds, with his comic timing, and artistry in mask making and performing. Henry studied mime, mask and clowning at California’s Dell’Arte School of Physical Comedy. He is a member of the Hampshire Bird Club and the Northeast Hawkwatch. Henry was a Great Blue Heron in a past life.

Henry the Juggler (AKA Henry Lappen) is wanted! He is wanted by audiences everywhere for his zany attempts to defy the laws of gravity. He juggles any number of balls, clubs, rings, members of the audience . . . He balances strange items on the tip of his nose. Everything is accomplished wordlessly as Henry uses body language and gesture to express himself. Caution: Henry is known to use innocent bystanders in his act. Henry the Juggler is a professional. He has been seen by tens of thousands up and down the East Coast - at theaters, schools, libraries and festivals. He has been performing for over twenty five years. He studied physical comedy at California's Dell'Arte School. He is an active member of the International Jugglers' Association. A workshop follows each show, where Henry teaches some of the skills he has presented.
