Teens are invited to experience hands-on drumming circle workshops with professional percussionist, Jeff Haynes. Students will gather for 2 workshops to receive instruction on developing rhythmic patterns, playing within a group, and exploring various sounds and tones on the drum. Then on the third meeting the students will share their learning experience through hands-on drumming with senior citizens in a special interactive performance in the library. Teens will gain an understanding of how they can contribute to the community through the arts. This exchange will not only bridge the generation gap but will also offer the teens and seniors an opportunity to enjoy the freedom of expressing their inner rhythms by “warming their hands” while “warming their hearts.”
