An informal program designed to expose smaller groups of students (in the classroom) to the musicians. Students interact with Andes Manta as the musicians explain and demonstrate each instrument, discuss life in Ecuador and offer the opportunity for practicing Spanish with native speakers.

PAN PIPE WORKSHOP: The musicians bring prepared kits of eight pre-tuned bamboo cane tubes and other assembly materials, and work with students (groups from 15 to 50 depending on the number of adults available to help) making individual instruments. Once all of the students have built their panpipes, the musicians teach them how to play a simple song.

The members of Andes Manta play over 35 different instruments ranging from six foot long panpipes and Andean flutes to goat toenail rattles and Spanish guitars. Throughout their dynamic performances, they weave the story of their culture and music in a captivating dialog, including student participation on stage.
