| ALL ABOUT BLUEBIRDS - and MORE |
Nature- Animals, Nature- Other, Science |
Learn about New York State’s official bird, the Eastern Bluebird, from a recognized expert. This highly acclaimed program about nature is educational, creative, and fun. Program content and length can be customized for children, adults, or families. John Rogers maintains hundreds of bluebird nest boxes, and has fledged over 12,700 bluebirds. The focus is on bluebirds, including the nesting cycle (building nests, egg laying, raising young etc.) and the proper use of bluebird boxes. But, there is more, too. Mr. Rogers opens young and older hearts and minds to bluebirds, other birds, butterflies, wildflowers, and nature appreciation and exploration in general. Using visually beautiful photographs, creative animations, bird sounds, and a sincere, enthusiastic presentation style, this PowerPoint program has delighted and educated people throughout NY State. The children's program is especially interactive and engaging, with children being encouraged to share their nature experiences. Examples of excellent books on bluebirds encourage further reading. As an option, a build-your-own bluebird box program (for all age groups) with all materials provided is also available. (see listing)

| BUILD YOUR OWN BLUEBIRD BOX |
Nature- Animals, Nature- Other, Other |
Build your own bluebird nest box! Kids and adults love to make their own bluebird box. Other birds that use this box include tree swallows, chickadees, titmice, and wrens. It is a hands-on learning experience. Using pre-cut lumber with ALL materials and tools provided, everyone makes and takes home a bluebird nest box. (Or,alternatively, a chickadee box with a smaller entrance hole for those who do not have good bluebird habitat.) The nest box building program includes a PowerPoint presentation on bluebirds and other birds with John Rogers. This dynamic and colorful PowerPoint presentation will educate the audience on bluebirds, other birds, and how to properly place their box, etc. The slide program will add about 35-45 minutes, making the total time up to 90 minutes. Customized as needed. (Please refer to the other listing for a description of the full length, stand alone PowerPoint presentation.) Children, adults, and families love this hands-on activity, and it provides an opportunity to help bluebirds, other birds, and the environment, too. Materials include pre-cut wood, nails, and inside plastic strip. Tools include hammers and safety glasses. Mr. Rogers cuts and drills the wood himself in his garage.
