Learn how to create amazing decorations using just scissors and colored paper. Program focuses on Asian styles of cut paper art, and discusses the history of the art form, and as a Asian New Year's tradition. Includes lots of Asian New year facts, traditions from China, Korea, Tibet and Japan.
A great multi-cultural program, and perfect for curing the 'winter blahs', as the Asian New Year takes place around the end of January to the middle of February!

Participants are asked to imagine themselves as a super hero. By answering a series of questions, they develop a super hero persona. The answers are then used to draw themselves as the super hero they are! Cartooning, drawing, and creative writing and thinking are developed and refined during the program. | POLYMER CLAY EGYPTIAN STYLE |

Make Egyptian style jewelry using polymer clay! We will explore hieroglyphs, and various styles of ancient Egyptian jewelry. Students will then be given polymer clay that uses the same colors that dominated Egyptian jewelry (custom mixed clay that simulates lapis lazuli, carnelian, turquiose, obsidian, chyrophase, etc.); texturing in jewelry is also encouraged.
Recommended ages 10 to adult, as we will use crafting knives for some of our work.
Time permitting, the clay can be baked at your facility**- so then participants can string their jewelry before thay leave.

Take an old book and turn it into a treasure! Repurpose your libraries discard books into a work of art! Participants use collage, painting, staining, old photos, postcards, stamps, ribbon (etc.) and writing to Alter their book into a keepsake. Program best with ages 14 and up. Adults lobe this program too! It's a green way to reuse an old book!

This program can be held as a one-day workshop or mulitple-session residency. I teache the beginning skills needed to create and develop a graphic novel or short story. Drawing skills, story telling skills, creative writing and visual story boarding are taught.
Age 12 and up mandatory for this program. A great way to get teens and especially teen boys to visit your library!
