Sprague, Lindsay (Lynn) Dig - In Gardening Life Skills- Food,
Nature- Gardening,
Science
During the program, the presenter will help patrons plant their own square foot garden, using heirloom seeds. A 4x4 square area can be tilled on library grounds, a vacant lot, or local park with permission prior to the program for a garden site, or an alternative will be to use a contained box garden to inspire patrons of all ages to be aware of where their food comes from and to eat local. I will also talk about heirloom seeds and seed saving, do it yourself vertical hydroponics, and environmental conservation. Some libraries are hosting a community seed swap after the program to increase plant diversity and availability of great food for all. I think this is an AWESOME idea! This program is suitable for the 2019 summer reading program.

P., L. Unique Journeys & Ecstatic Trance Workshops Health & Fitness- Sports,
Life Skills- Other,
Multicultural- Other
At certain points in one's life, it may become important to heal, to “empty” or “clean house” internally, in order to release old, worn-out beliefs, patterns, negative thought processes and unwarranted fears. Shamanic Journeying is the perfect way to heal old hurts, even stubborn ones, in order to experience wholeness and optimal health and well-being. Each workshop has a unique theme. Examples of themes are Seasons of the year, elements of Nature, such as water, essences of particular plants, such as pine from the forest, etc. I may lead students through a series of very gentle Yoga stretches and breathing techniques to help them to relax. We then transition into Shamanic Journeying, in order to get in touch with our innate wisdom and sense of perfect wholeness. In this state of consciousness, it becomes possible for students to gain profound insights into their own lives, those of their friends and loved ones, as well as the wider world in which we all live. Journeying as a group helps to create a safe, secure and supportive environment, in which an individual feels validated in her/his own experience.

Kelly, Rorie Songs to Start a Fire Magic Circle Workshop Life Skills- Other,
Music
The Songs to Start a Fire “Magic Circle” Workshop brings the participants together in a circle to co-create an atmosphere of safety, healing, and possibility. Today we are faced with constant messages about how to act, feel, and look. The songs and exercises in this workshop put the power back where it belongs: in our own hearts and minds. Inside the circle, participants find the safety and support they need to give voice to their fears and struggles. As we share and sing with the group, we begin to break down the walls of isolation and self-doubt. Through positivity, honesty and raised voices, participants find the compassion to befriend themselves, and the courage to become their own hero.
