An experienced folk music performer and family literacy teacher, with a specialty in traditional American singing games, Cathy uses guitar, banjo, limberjack puppets, flute, and penny whistle in her programs which are tailored for specific age groups. She has performed for over 25 years for museums, schools, libraries and festivals. One parent’s response: You can’t help but dance! Another response: As we sang, danced, and clapped our way through a variety of folk music, Cathy's energy and enthusiasm were contagious. What a wonderful way to introduce singing games and our cultural heritage to children. We can't wait to have her back again! Welcome to the world of horses! Children and adults alike are fascinated by these majestic creatures, and the experiences with them can be magical! Spending time around horses and ponies has been proven in many studies to be therapeutic on many levels both physically and emotionally. The bond can be quite powerful and healing, but where to start? It is important to know the nature of a horse, how to properly handle them on the ground as well as while riding. Proper care and feeding, tack fitting, and maintenance will be discussed as well. This is all taught out of the American Association for Horsemanship Safety manual by Jan Dawson. Katie, our real life miniature horse will be available to be pet, groomed, and for demonstration of safety techniques. This program is suitable for the 2017 summer reading program.

Lagan, Constance Become an Optimist and Change Your Life Forever Health & Fitness- Other,
Life Skills- Other
Optimistic people are more likely to be physically healthy, mentally alert, emotionally grounded, and spiritually connected than are pessimistic people. They tend to have more stable relationships over time and more career success. Although genetics and early childhood environment do play a role in whether optimism comes easily, optimistic thinking and behavior can be learned. Motivational speaker Constance Hallinan Lagan opens the window on optimistic thinking for those who have yet to experience the joy of a life lived positively and encourages those who are already actively attempting to “stamp out” negativity to continue their quest. Topics include affirmative thinking, gratitude, forgiveness, prioritizing happiness, sharing, present-moment living, and positive learning. The seminar concludes with a guided visualization meditation.
