This program is held preferably in the beginning of each season and will involve a hands-on field trip into a nearby woodland. Attention will be directed to the various natural changes which are harbingers of each season such as plantlife, animals, weather patterns, some of which are obvious and some of which are subtle.

Hoffman, Nan Sing A Story - Read A Song! Literature- Other,

With programs specially designed for libraries, Nan incorporates songs that have been made into books (books that sing), songs made from books, songs based on folk tales and stories, and songs that celebrate reading. Within that framework she offers presentations that focus on several different themes such as reading (SING A STORY-READ A SONG!), folk music (MORE THAN A SONG!), history (SINGING OUR HISTORY), and nature and the environment (SONGS FOR A LIVABLE LAND). Using folk and acoustic music and a variety of songs and instruments, Nan offers presentations that are fun and informative, and encourages audience participation.

The children and I will explore songs and languages from around the world through singing, dancing, play-acting and story-telling. With insights and humor arising from the interaction and inventiveness of the kids, I use gentle lessons about understanding and caring for our world and each other. 16 years experience as a full time musician/educator.

Native American Nature Tales explores tribal myths and legends of the animals and birds of North America. Ranging from the humorous to the heart-felt, these stories celebrate native culture and its strong links to the natural world. We learn an Abenaki canoeing song, explore over seven different animals in the Northwest legend of Loon's Song and discover why America is called Turtle Island. For older audiences the performance features beautiful legends of the spirit like Jumping Mouse. Join one of New England's favorite tellers as these rich stories create a colorful weave of the landscape. Through these how and why legends, students begin to understand how Native American culture clothed their world in story and how this enlivened both imagination and world. Smalley, Carol Parenzan Grow Your Green Esteem Literature- Authors,

You can make a difference. In this workshop, students discover steps their families can take to shrink their carbon footprints. With a degree in environmental engineering, Carol guides students in an engaging conversation about green living. To celebrate their green esteem, each student makes an earth card using paper-engineering (pop-up) techniques. (Shh! It’s math!) Green Esteem is a program based on the trickle up theory. Carol Parenzan Smalley is the author of Tell Your Parents: Green Changes You Can Make Around the Home, fresh off the press in 2009 by Mitchell Lane Publishers, a leader in education publishing. She holds a degree in environmental engineering from Penn State and has written over 20 books. Libraries hosting the program receive a free, signed, personalized copy of the book to add to their collection.
