Join magician Ron Cain on “A Magical Trip to the Titanic,” a magic show that commemorates the 100th anniversary of the ship's sinking. The luxury liner hit an iceberg the night of April 14, 1912, on its maiden voyage from England to New York. Only one-third of the 2,200 people aboard survived. Cain appears as a magical time traveler who takes young audiences back to the time of the Titanic. Children help perform tricks that depict what life was like on the “jewel of the White Star Line.” Illusions also feature key figures from history and highlight elements of the tragedy that led to improvements in maritime safety. A Syracuse University graduate and former teacher, Ron performs educational magic shows for libraries and schools throughout the Northeast. Each year, he presents a show highlighting the summer reading program theme. Shows include the Magic of Being Green, Wide World of Magic, Tune In To Magical Idol, Uncle Sam's Magic of America, Wandering Wizard Show, Capt. HurriCain’s Seaside Magic Show, Tex the Cowboy Magician's Wild West Show, and The Case of the Missing Bunny.

Prepare for takeoff as Central New York magician Ron Cain launches his new “Martian Magic Show” this summer! Ron appears as Cosmo the Conjuror, a Martian magician who travels the galaxy performing tricks and collecting stories. Naturally, he loves libraries and admires the 2019 New York state library summer reading program theme, “A Universe of Stories.” Throughout the 45-minute show, Cosmo demonstrates Martian powers like telepathy and psychokinesis. He tells tales and shares illusions picked up from visits to various planets. Volunteers help him rescue the Man in the Moon and have fun playing characters from Mercury, Venus & Pluto. Cosmo also teaches children facts about space travel and encourages them to explore the library’s “universe of stories." A former teacher and Syracuse University graduate, Ron specializes in educational magic for schools and libraries. Children participate in shows promoting reading, history, science and the environment. He also teaches magical workshops and classes on everything from Magic to Monsterology.

Get ready to rock with the Wizard of Books! This summer, magician Ron Cain invites young readers to help him form a wizard rock band. The 45-minute magic show highlights the 2018 New York state summer reading program theme, Libraries Rock! Appearing as the Wizard of Books, Ron uses magical, musical tricks to encourage children to read. Volunteers perform illusions with offbeat instruments he conjures. Youngsters also learn about literary and historical wizards, including Merlin, Morgan le Fay and Harry Potter. The Harry Potter universe has inspired its own musical genre called wizard rock. Since 2002, bands like Harry and the Potters and Draco and the Malfoys have performed songs about J.K. Rowling's wizarding books.

Introduce young readers to “The Magic of Dreaming Big,” a new magic show inspired by the 2012 summer library reading program theme, “Dream Big – READ!” Appearing as a magical dream-weaver, Ron conjures up illusions using his “Giant Book of Big Dreams (and Little Nightmares).” Children help perform tricks that encourage them to stretch their imaginations and reach for the stars. They even have a chance to picture themselves in a variety of fields, including being a secret agent, movie star, Olympic athlete, and president of the United States. A Syracuse University graduate and former teacher, Ron performs educational magic shows for libraries and schools throughout the Northeast. Central New York magician Ron Cain takes young readers on an imaginary journey to ancient Greece. His Olymp-Trick Games Magic Show highlights the 2016 summer reading program theme, On Your Mark, Get Set. . . READ! The 45-minute program combines an Olympic-style emphasis on sports with Greek myths and legends. Cain tells the audience he needs help finding the ultimate champion of his Olymp-Trick Games. The contenders are Greek gods, goddesses and heroes. Each must perform a magic trick related to an Olympic event. Children volunteer to play the contestants during the show. Will Heracles (Hercules) best everyone in illusions involving feats of strength? Is Artemis faster at sleight-of-hand than her twin brother, Apollo? Can greedy King Midas magically win the gold in any event? Cain is a former history teacher who recently traveled to Greece to visit Panathenaic Stadium, site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. The ancient Greeks valued physical fitness and sports, which prompted them to create the Olympic Games more than 2,700 years ago. They also were great thinkers and writers. Cain hopes his show will inspire young people to visit their local library to read about Greek history and mythology.

Scientific Secrets of Magic reveals the scientific principles behind the tricks of magician Ron Cain’s trade. Children learn simple magic involving chemistry, physics, biology, psychology and math. The Syracuse University graduate and former teacher also offers other workshops that combine class instruction with hands-on activities: IT'S MAGIC! teaches kids to perform magic with ordinary objects like cards, coins and rope. Children learn simple tricks that involve chemistry, physics, biology, psychology and math. CLOWNING AROUND shows them how to have fun with juggling, yo-yos and balloon animals. THE WORLD OF HARRY POTTER gives Hogwarts fans a chance to take magical classes and play wizard games. ENCHANTED CREATURES focuses on the folklore and legends surrounding elves, fairies, leprechauns, trolls, dragons and unicorns. MONSTEROLOGY sheds light on the seven monster families and invites students to use their imagination to create creepy creatures. A GATHERING OF GHOSTS introduces students to classic ghost stories and beliefs. THE WILD, WILD WEST lets children pretend to be cowboys (and girls) and learn about Wild Bill Hickok, Annie Oakley and Sitting Bull.

Young readers assist Ron with tricks demonstrating the powers of popular superheroes like Batman and Wonder Woman. One illusion features our favorite heroes battling the villainous Book Beetle, scourge of librarians everywhere. In addition to his 45-minute show, Ron has created a one-hour Super Fun with Superheroes workshop for schools and libraries. The former teacher uses activities illustrating the Superhero Code to help students tap into their super selves and become the heroes of their own life stories.
