Visual Arts- Other
Robin Brickman is the award-winning illustrator of several children's picturebooks, based primarily on natural science subjects. Her program has two parts: an initial presentation about her illustrations for books, and then a hands-on workshop. First, she will demonstrate her unique cut-paper technique of watercolor, and then she will help the audience make their own cut paper creatures. Robin will bring an original painting from one of her books for inspiration. Her program has been celebrated for its emphasis on art and natural science, its accessibility to all ages, and Robin's ability to connect with all ages and abilities.

Peaceable Kingdom Community Mural is a new version of Ms. Brickman's highly successful mural workshops. Combining the cut-paper technique of her habitat murals, the subject of this mural builds on class commentaries of INCLUSION or ANTI-BULLYING with a variety of animals, insects, and plants. The mural is made by the students after instruction from Ms. Brickman, using in-expensive paper, coloring supplies, and school scissors.
