ASCAP Award winning songwriter, Jeff Eisenberg, and his singing partner, Elayne Kessler, have created a fun, interactive and educational program to teach basic sign language through music and songs. Jeff and Elayne are fluent in sign language and are certified Kindersigns instructors. Kids and adults can begin to learn a new language in this thoroughly enjoyable program.

Styles of performed stories can include traditional prose retellings, balladry, rap, spoonerism, and many other original takes on traditional tales.

Highlights of major periods of music history, noteworthy composers and their contributions, instrumentation, stylistic technique of the composer (all preceded by an introduction to basic music theory to facilitate understanding the terms) as well as brief viewing and commentary on major art of period and how each influenced the other. Major periods: Middle Ages and the Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Modern (1890-)to 20th Century as time permits. Handouts of timelines are provided, along with instructor's notes. A projector is needed for viewing. Instructor brings lap top. The content is targeted to high school age and adults.

During this inspiring concert, audiences of all ages will sing along with Ruth Pelham as she leads songs from numerous social movements about freedom, hope, justice, equality and environmental responsibility. A special part of the program will be audience members making up new words to Ruth’s original songs like, “Look To the People” and “Turning of the World” as a way of expressing our yearnings for a safe and peaceful planet.

In this environmentally-friendly workshop, students will realize the inherent beauty and value in commonly used and discarded materials, such as junk mail, postcards, plastic bags, packaging material, etc. as they create a miniature weaving. Easy to learn weaving and knotting techniques on cardboard loom will be taught for all age levels. Finished pieces will be embellished with fun recycled materials and can be worn as necklaces, belt and backpack adornments or can be matted and framed. Inspiring examples of weavings from diverse cultures will be shown in this educational and creative class. Class is taught by award-winning weaver, artist and passionate conservationist This is a great class for Earth Day and every day!
