But what happens if the princess doesn’t need rescuing — and the dragon to be killed is the very last one on Earth? Learning to live together in peace is the theme of this modern fairytale, which is also a wonderful introduction to the concept of species extinction. It is brought to life by the Crabgrass Puppet Theatre with their trademark blend of beautiful puppets, fabulous scenery, and hysterically funny action.	$501- $1000
Edgecomb, Diane	A Fire In My Heart: Kurdish Folktales	Literature- Other, Multicultural- Other, Performing Arts- Storytelling	A Fire in My Heart: Kurdish Folktales: Based around Diane's new book of Kurdish folktales, this program introduces students and families to this pivotal Middle Eastern culture. Diane will present Kurdish stories she collected firsthand including The Lie a humorous story about a tall tale contest between an Uncle and his nephew, Fatima, the Kurdish Cinderella story and tales of how the moon and the Milky Way came to be. A map, anecdotes of her collecting experience and traditional dress and dance round out our exploration of this little known culture. Notice in the Salem News-2007 'How fun and exciting to have you visit Pine Point School! And, I have to tell you that I have heard such wonderful comments since the assembly. You inspired questions and comments all over campus and you were a hit with both students and faculty alike. Accompanied by a pecussionist, he explores the African Folk tradition with tales and dances featuring indigenous attire, music with traditional instumentation. Just in time for Halloween, Diane presents an unusual collection of eerie tales and songs. Definitely not for kids, this evening event features a true ghost story Edgecomb collected about the misshapen standing stones of Avebury, England and the eerie force that emanates from them. The performance has a decidedly Celtic slant exploring the Gaelic traditions that influence Halloween including the humorous encounter with the devil that brought about the first Jack O’Lantern	$501- $1000

My "Read To Succeed" program use a variety of performing arts such as: magic tricks, storytelling, age appropriate humor, audience interaction and music to captivate students as they learn. A funny, interactive program that encourages kids to spend more time reading books. It also covers the importance of taking care of library books in a very unique way. There are 8 different popular children books that are used and talked about all throughout my reading program. I focus and show the kids how important reading everyday is so very important and the library as well. I use story-telling in a very magical way and show your students how books have lots of gold on the inside as long as they check them out and read them! My goal with school programs is to get your students excited about the learning process and to help reinforce what is already being taught at school. Audiences of all ages dig how Robert brings his favorite underground stories to life before their eyes: from a pirate digging for gold, to a paleontologist excavating fossils (that just might tell dinosaur tales), to a child building an elaborate sand castle at the beach! Robert celebrates what he loves about mime and reading while encouraging audience members to become deeper readers. This fun, interactive program allows EVERYONE to learn mime, play, and have a great time at their library!	$351- $500
Bromka, Sondra & John	Musical Traditions of Ireland & Other Celtic Lands	History, Music, Performing Arts- Dance	The Bromkas have been performing concerts of traditional Celtic music as a duo for the past 20 years, gathering a rich and varied repertoire, and acquainting eager audiences with the traditions and mysteries found within that heritage. For the Celts, music and mythology are closely intertwined, with potent images evoked on the traditional instruments including fiddle, harp, hammered dulcimer, squeezeboxes, pennywhistle, bodhran (Irish frame drum.) Of special interest are John’s collection of different bagpipes, representing several Celtic traditions. To complement the Irish, the artists share favorite music within the Welsh, Manx, Breton, Scottish, and Galician Celtic traditions.	$351- $500
