| Chesser, Richard | Children's Literature Brought to Life |
Literature- Other, Performing Arts- Theater, Performing Arts- Literary Artists |
Steamer No.10 Theatre produces professional theatre for young audiences based on children's literature and NYS history. Our current repertoire includes: Rumpelstiltskin, Pied Piper, Cinderella Tales (compilation of: Yeh Shen, Glass Slipper, and Billy Beg and the Bull), Reluctant Dragon, Clinton's Ditch - Saga of the Erie Canal, among others. All of our shows are created to appeal to an audience aged 3 to 93, with a preference for performing to an audience of children with adults. Our goal is to inspire children and parents to go find the book, or books that the show is based on and read it for themselves. We love books and our life is about bringing them to life on the stage while remaining to true to the author, or the tradition out of which the story came.
Each show is created to tour with 3-4 actors and a stage manager, a touring set and costumes; depending on venue we can also bring lighting and sound system. Steamer No.10 is funded in part by the New York State Council on the Arts
The Key is Reading – it Unlocks the Treasures of the World - Children’s Literature Brought to Life.
