Arm-of-the-Sea, Theater City That Drinks the Mountain Sky History,
Nature- Environment,
Performing Arts- Puppetry
The epic story of water for New York City, told in the elemental beauty of mask & puppet theatre. Heralded as one of the wonders of the world, New York City's ingenious system of aqueducts and reservoirs provides clear mountain water from the Catskills to nine million downstate residents. And though the struggle over these water resources has, at times, bitterly divided city managers and watershed residents, it has also irrevocably united them. Through a shimmering tapestry of poetry, puppetry and evocative music, City that Drinks the Mountain Sky brings alive the lyrical landscape of the Catskills— to portray the on-going story of the watershed and the uneasy marriage of those who must protect its vulnerable flowing treasure. You can expect plenty of visual punch and timely wit as the Hudson Valley's premier eco-logic theater traces life's quintessential liquid from mountain top to city tap. Study guide and post performance discussion provided for school audiences. Photos and video available at www.armofthesea.org

Cain, Ron A Magical Trip to the Titanic History,
Performing Arts- Magic,
Performing Arts- Storytelling
Join magician Ron Cain on “A Magical Trip to the Titanic,” a magic show that commemorates the 100th anniversary of the ship's sinking. The luxury liner hit an iceberg the night of April 14, 1912, on its maiden voyage from England to New York. Only one-third of the 2,200 people aboard survived. Cain appears as a magical time traveler who takes young audiences back to the time of the Titanic. Children help perform tricks that depict what life was like on the “jewel of the White Star Line.” Illusions also feature key figures from history and highlight elements of the tragedy that led to improvements in maritime safety. A Syracuse University graduate and former teacher, Ron performs educational magic shows for libraries and schools throughout the Northeast. Each year, he presents a show highlighting the summer reading program theme. Shows include the Magic of Being Green, Wide World of Magic, Tune In To Magical Idol, Uncle Sam's Magic of America, Wandering Wizard Show, Capt. HurriCain’s Seaside Magic Show, Tex the Cowboy Magician's Wild West Show, and The Case of the Missing Bunny.
