Recent changes by the Obama administration now make it legal to travel to Cuba under “People to People” tours. We will discuss the recent diplomatic changes between Cuba and the United States (the Cuban Thaw), arranging a visit to Cuba, pre-revolutionary Cuban history, the Ernest Hemingway tourist sites, Cuban baseball, classic Cuban music, world renowned Cuban cigars, and places to stay and eat. to stay and eat and the unique Cuban economic system. Rick Feingold, published travel writer for Boston Herald and Christian Science Monitor. He has traveled to Cuba seven times since 2001 and lectured at the National Baseball Hall of Fame on Cuban-American baseball. MBA, Penn State University. BA, Rutgers University.

Learn where racism begins and how it can end, during a film and talk presentation by award winning filmmaker Ken Kimmelman. View 3 short films by Mr. Kimmelman, the Emmy Award winning public service film "The Heart Knows Better"; "Brushstrokes," an anti-prejudice film commissioned by the UN; and "What Does a Person Deserve?" a celebrated film against homelessness and hunger. The films are part of an interactive presentation about how the philosophy Aesthetic Realism, founded by American educator Eli Siegel, can change prejudice to kindness. His statement is the basis for "The Heart Knows Better": "It will be found that black and white man have the same goodnesses, the same temptations, and can be criticized in the same way. The skin may be different, but the aorta is quite the same."

Yoga is a superb form of physical exercise balancing strength, flexibility, endurance and relaxation/stress management skills. Many postures are designed to stretch, tone and strengthen particular parts of the body, and students are encouraged to respect their own particular strengths and weaknesses while exercising. The ancient healing arts of yoga and meditation can help people to bring more balance into all aspects of their lives and thus, to experience radiant health and well-being. This program may be offered to students once or on an on-going basis.

Meet the challenge. The Cupcake War is on. Team up and compete to create best decorated cupcakes. Each team of 4 will decorate 12 cupcakes. The librarians will judge based on neatness, difficulty, creativity and overall appearance. I will bring sheets with ideas based on Holiday or season and lots of different goodies, frosting, pastry bags for them to use in the challenge. Each participant will bring 3 cupcakes home in a bakery box. This is a favorite class and a lot of fun.

Google has become far more than a search engine. Google is now putting programs online including applications for Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Presentations, website design, email, calendars and more without installing a single program on your computer. The best thing about it is that these programs are free. This class will teach you how to create a Google account and use all of Google's free services. You should be familiar with using your computer to visit websites with your web browser before taking this class. There will be a $5.00 charge at the first day of class for a project book needed during the class. The book can be downloaded from the class website (classes.assistacomp.com) at no charge however you need to print it out and bring it with you on the first day of the class.

Exercise Like The Animals educates and inspires kids to be fit through fun animal mimicry, rhymes, instructor-led “Playouts,” books, videos and games. All children deserve to be fit without the need for a team, a ball or much more than their imagination. Exercise Like The Animals combines the power of a child’s imagination and their love of animals to move them into personal understanding of a body’s mechanics. We’re all just looking for a fun activity to get and keep us moving and help us build confidences in ourselves.

One of my favorite recycling projects using paper, many choices of beads, silver spacers, and your creativity. The possibilities are endless: make a unisex bracelet by stringing beads onto elastic to be worn doubled on the wrist. Keep your tool and bring home anyextra beads you make for future projects. This is a wonderful workshop for grades 3 and up. YA's and Adults also!

Corn-Tastic - We learn about the many uses of Corn in today’s world. We learn the science and benefits, to the world, Corn brings and how we can all be the future, through education, of discovery. Farmer Tom Walsh, during his program, will distribute agriculture and farm related STICKERS to the fair goers. BEE ON THE FARM: Farmer Tom Walsh’s program has an agricultural theme that begins with a fun and educational story and then song on the life of bees. During the show everyone will gain an appreciation for the importance of bees in agriculture production. Bee My Friend: Everyone will gain an appreciation for the importance of bees in agriculture production. Cooperation with and respect for others (Dignity for All Students Act) is available for Elementary grade levels with his original story, The wooly bully bee, is a story of a bee that is misunderstood and everyone helps to tell the tale! Performance Preparation: Activities can include curriculum requirement, cooperation with others, farming, vegetables, recycling, nutrition, safety, history and music.
