Mexican Music, Dance and Storytelling with:
Cascada de Flores
Jorge, Arwen & Sabra take children of all ages through the world of Mexican folk music, which explodes with rhyme, fun musical instruments and sweet characters. You may meet the donkey and it’s jawbone, the abuelito and the vulture, the accordion, and the little "mosquito" guitar. Children and their families are invited to sing, dance and play with beautiful traditional songs and dance pieces. Program is bilingual and good for all ages.
Cascada de Flores is a professional music ensemble that for 11 years has been dedicated to the exploration, preservation and dissemination of Mexican and Caribbean folk music. Their educational programming has reached over 50,000 students in schools, libraries, and cultural centers throughout the West. Their family program was featured in Californian venues such as Herbst Theater, Mexican Heritage Plaza and the Lobero Theater.
"Cascada de Flores explores the musical traditions of Mexico and Cuba with grace and sensitivity. Their music is strongly rooted in folkloric forms, yet they steer clear of anachronistic mimicry of the past, instead interpreting their repertoire in their own subtle way. The result is rich, delicate, and lovely." Sing Out! Magazine
