Performing Arts- Storytelling
Decades of misguided policy and practice have created a human and civil rights crisis in the U.S. The massive, unequal and unethical overreach of our criminal justice system creates more problems than it solves. Though there is widespread, bipartisan, well-researched agreement on the need to shrink and reform the justice system, federal leadership is now repeating many of the same costly mistakes. This unique, multi-media program is educational and entertaining, part presentation and part concert. It covers themes including the over-criminalization of human behavior, implicit and system bias, impacts on children, mass incarceration, for-profit prisons, impacts on children and the role of schools, and alternative approaches that set us up to succeed instead of to fail.
