Marshall, Joe History of the 20th Century Through Pop Music History,
Multicultural- Other,
Music
All Strung Out is a band of four very experienced musicians who perform popular music of the 20th century of all genres and all decades. We choose songs that just won't die, because they are too powerful, too delightful, too sad, too true, or just too beautiful. And we talk about two things: 1) Why such a song might have been popular at the time it hit big, given the social scene of that time, and 2) The often-surprising politics behind the song's rise to the top. Former NY State school teacher, stand up cmic, and folksinger Joe Marshall and his band have put together an evening of entertainment and education that is sure to delight audiences of all ages.
$351- $500
Bromka, Sondra & John 'The Tale of Yanek & Heliotrope' - A Medieval Music & Storytelling Journey History,
Music,
Performing Arts- Theater
Audiences are instantly engaged when a Medieval merchant's cart overflowing with mysterious and intriguing musical instruments arrives. Master Craftsman Yanek is en route to the greatest trading faire in all of France. His path crosses that of Lady Heliotrope, an exuberant troubaritz (female troubadour) in search of poetic inspiration. From here the fairytale spins as their tales entwine in this authentic period storytelling production that will absolutely delight audiences of all ages. Sondra and John Bromka infuse the performance with historic music on a great variety of unusual medieval instruments-many actually built by John, an accomplished luthier in real life. An authentic and appealing program!

In this engaging and humorous program, the audience relives this colorful time in our history. I'll use a wide range of songs including surprising, memorable favorites like Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polkadot Bikini, great rock tunes like Blue Suede Shoes and moving folk songs like Bob Dylan's blowing in the Wind. This program is musical, thought provoking and always leaves the audience feeling good about where we are... and where we've been.
