Davis, Joanne Tom Petty: An American Treasure Music
Petty Five is Long Island’s own Tom Petty tribute band. They celebrate the music of one of America’s greatest singer-songwriters, Tom Petty. They perform an assortment of Petty's tunes, from his rock and roll hits with The Heartbreakers to hidden gems from his solo career, as well as glorious songs from his time with The Traveling Wilburys and his early career in the country- rock band, Mudcrutch. Put them all together and you’ve got a veritable feast of timeless music.

Corn-Tastic - We learn about the many uses of Corn in today’s world. We learn the science and benefits, to the world, Corn brings and how we can all be the future, through education, of discovery. Farmer Tom Walsh, during his program, will distribute agriculture and farm related STICKERS to the fair goers. BEE ON THE FARM: Farmer Tom Walsh’s program has an agricultural theme that begins with a fun and educational story and then song on the life of bees. During the show everyone will gain an appreciation for the importance of bees in agriculture production. Bee My Friend: Everyone will gain an appreciation for the importance of bees in agriculture production. Cooperation with and respect for others (Dignity for All Students Act) is available for Elementary grade levels with his original story, The wooly bully bee, is a story of a bee that is misunderstood and everyone helps to tell the tale! Performance Preparation: Activities can include curriculum requirement, cooperation with others, farming, vegetables, recycling, nutrition, safety, history and music.

I use interactive songs -- original and traditional -- as well as musical/theatrical improvisation to really make this an interactive, fun and energetic experience! No one will be sitting just watching -- there will be moving, dancing, singing, spontaneous fun. You will need to rest after my show! I love to empower children to use their imagination and be part of the show.

The traditional Japanese Taiko Drums and the Martial Art of Kendo, provide a glimpse into the unique SAMURAI SPIRIT, which has pervaded Japanese culture for hundreds of years and still influences the Japanese today as seen in the popularity of Samurai based Anime & Manga. Workshops with the Taiko drums & Kendo introduce the Teens to these exciting aspects of Japanese culture and get them involved in physical activities which they might not normally be involved in. This program is presented by the Ryu Shu Kan and sponsored by the Japan Center at Stony Brook University's Community Outreach programs.

“Moscow Nights” is an exciting, versatile trio of world recognized, prize- winning musicians from Russia. In a little over two years, they have already established themselves as one of the fastest rising folk groups in the U.S. These classically trained artists first took Western Europe by storm and now have brought their dazzling, toe-tapping music to North America. The repertoire is centered on masterpieces of Russian folklore and represents the diversity of the culture, ranging from gently humorous songs, to elaborate lyrical suites, to pulsating dance numbers. Russian folk music expresses the national character – outwardly reserved and cool but brimming with vigor, mischievousness and vibrancy inside. Their lively program presents an authentic picture of Russian folk traditions and culture. Lilting Balalaikas, dynamic Bayan Accordion, unique Trashotky & Loshky, humorous Dances and superb Vocals combine for an exhilarating and educational performance for audiences of all ages!

Picture children on stage, in costumes, singing and dancing as their favorite songs come alive through music. Eric Carle, Tomie DePaola, Dr. Seuss, Laura Numeroff, Doreen Cronin, Jan Brett and Marcus Pfister shows feature a wide variety of musical styles with full orchestra sound. These concerts were created for the Long Island Children's Museum and were a huge success. Tap dancing chefs, high kicking dancers, aprons and pasta utensils, hungry caterpillars and grouchy ladybugs and Indians will adorn the stage. Children will learn 5 senses, days of the week, follow directions and have a great time!

Discover the stories and secrets behind some of the most rare, mysterious, and magical musical instruments of history. How were they invented? How do they work? Hear the tales that are told about the person who was said to be the first player of the bagpipes in ancient Rome. Discover the secret behind stories that claim that fiddles actually have magical powers. What is the tallest stringed instruments ever invented? Are there actually wind instruments that you don't blow into? Can a harp ever play itself? What happens when you touch it? Children will be invited to try the harp and find out for themselves! Bells & Motley have discovered that young children (as well as adults) are enthralled by the unusual sounds and stories behind their unique collection of historic instruments, including rommelpot, hurdy gurdy, early bagpipes, harp, hand-made fiddles, and tromba marina. Audiences are especially excited to hear that the Bromkas, in addition to being musicians, historians, and veteran storytellers, are also expert instrument builders. An unforgettable interactive enrichment experience.

This program of Celtic songs can include up to one hour of American popular Irish songs from the early 1900s, accompanied by piano (see video clip) and/or up to one hour of traditional Irish songs with guitar accompaniment. Short "lessons" about the historical or cultural context of the songs, such as information about composers, or the explanations of the lyrics, can be included if desired. If "lessons" or other speeches are desired for groups larger than 25, amplification would be helpful.
