This subject encompasses the current state of tracking people who are either lost or fugitives. It discusses the many facets of planning and conducting searches and rescues, especially from the point of view of tracking a person who may or may not wish to be found. Given current attention and public interest in an open manhunt incident, this subject is very topical and will explain much to a concerned public as well as law enforcement or others who may become involved in such an investigation in the future.

Explore the science of crime scene investigation techniques: Fingerprints, chromatography & shoe print analysis. Applying these techniques with deductive reasoning, participants examine the evidence & try to figure out Who done it?

In this electrifying class, students will be taken on a tour of the electron freeway. Problem-solving abilities, scientific know-how and good retention skills are explored when students tackle the problem of creating a circuit which will light a bulb. It's not as easy as it sounds! After mastering simple circuits, the class will turn to a hands-on exploration of more complex series circuits.

** Walloping Weather** Welcome to the wild world of weather! Investigate why it rains, what causes lightning, and how weather can be predicted. Step into the shoes of a meteorologist, and create your own regional weather forecast. Learn about the Sun’s energy and ultraviolet radiation with the “Mad Science Sun Beads” you will take home. Mad Science Enrichment Programs are fun explorations into science and technology, and they encourage informal learning through hands-on experience. All Mad Science workshops include a lot of fascinating equipment, supplies, and take-home materials which the children build themselves. The Mad Science mission is to spark the imagination and curiosity of children everywhere by providing them with fun, entertaining, and educational activities which instill a clear understanding of what science really is, and how it affects the world around them.

Long Island Science Center, The Place for Learning IN THE MIND'S EYE Light, Color & Optics Science
Learn how your eye perceives light. Experiment with how light can be reflected, refracted and filtered through lenses, prisms and spectrometers. (Older children will use optics lab benches to perform experiment.) Program can be tailored to younger grades as needed. Make an optics craft to take home. 4th - 9th grade.
