Using a variety of songs and instruments, and her collection of BOOKS THAT SING, Nan's presentations are fun and informative and encourage audience participation. Complementing the 2019 SRP theme of A UNIVERSE OF STORIES!, programs will focus on making space in our lives for reading and music and how they are intertwined! Both can carry us to faraway and unexplored places, arousing our imaginations and enriching our knowledge of many topics, including our history, family and community,and nature and the environment.

These rock stars of the mineral world really get their glow on! In this program, Junior Geologists learn what makes some rocks glow those magnificent, iridescent colors, and they will help nature out by creating their very own glow in the dark rock. Along the way they will learn the secrets of fluorescence and phosphorescence,and even have a chance to capture their shadows on our Glow Wall! This workshop is developmentally appropriate,hands on and very kid friendly. It can be paired with Glow Geology for grades 3-5.

One of my favorite recycling projects using paper, many choices of beads, silver spacers, and your creativity. The possibilities are endless: make a unisex bracelet by stringing beads onto elastic to be worn doubled on the wrist. Keep your tool and bring home anyextra beads you make for future projects. This is a wonderful workshop for grades 3 and up. YA's and Adults also!

It is thrilling to be able to create with nature! Learn how to create a beautiful miniature wall hanging with natural materials, like reeds, leather, feathers, dried stalks and shells. Basic weaving and knotting techniques will be taught. Participants can experiment creatively or follow instructor's sample. Inspiring examples will be shown. Learn how different natural materials have been used throughout history in the arts by various cultures.

Learn how scientists calculate distance and mass from the wobble of stars and red shift. Learn about how scientists use microwaves and super cooled telescopes to see the farthest reaches of our expanding universe! See the many visual wonders of the universe, as well as familiar stars and galaxies. Lecture focuses on quantum mechanics and advanced math, not suitable for young children. Target audience is 6th - 12th grade and above. Check out CCAT - Prime in Chile, a future project collaboration with multiple universities, The NSF, and NASA! Pattysaurus in which selfish Patty becomes so obsessed with her dinosaur collection that she turns into a gigantic sauropod herself and Egg Mountain in which the audience helps out on this surprise filled journey that leads to the discovery of Egg Mountain and Maiasaura, the first dinosaur known to care for its young. Based on current scientific discoveries, this piece educates as it entertains.
