Through the course of the show, audience members will have the opportunity to “join” his crew, learn a sea shanty, learn how to navigate using state of the art sixteenth century instruments, and hear his thrilling tale of landing in the New World and visiting this strange new island named Manna-Hatta. At the end of the performance, audience members are encouraged to ask Henry any questions they like about his rich and varied life as a sea captain, explorer, navigator, and Elizabethan gentleman. Hudson lived during the age of Shakespeare, Francis Bacon, Galileo, El Greco, and Queen Elizabeth. Smalley, Carol Parenzan Create Living History Books History,
Literature- Creative Writing,
Science
How big does an oak tree grow? In this workshop, Carol shares a story within a story. In The Growing Story of Milton Hershey School, students observe the growth of a tree on a hill overlooking the town of Hershey (PA). While the tree grows, so does the community, park, chocolate factory, and a special school. Students use the book as a starting point to write their own growing stories, where they parallel the growth of a plant with the history of their community, school, or family. You can view her work on these books here: http://www.mhs-pa.org/100years/celebration/photo-gallery/
