For the Blue Mule Band the message is clear; to bring the unique sound of mulegrass to audiences everywhere. While Webster might not be able to define MuleGrass, The Blue Mule Band knows exactly what it is: an eclectic mix of traditional bluegrass and upbeat folk music played amid moments of humor and a lot of fun. Awash in harmonies and unique style, the sound of The Blue Mule Band sets the group apart from other bluegrass bands. Born out of jam sessions at Fosters Irish Pub in Ellicottville New York, the Cattaraugus County based band was officially formed in December 2003. In 2004, The Blue Mule Band and 36 fans, took their music for a weeklong pub tour of Ireland. Highlights of the trip was a spot on the Cormac McConnell Show. Members were interviewed and played three songs live on National Radio. The genuine interaction between the members and the audience has become a trademark and keeps folks coming back. Comittment to continuing The Blue Mule Band's unique sound and ex-panding original music continually drive the group in new directions.Contact at:@thebluemuleband@gmail.com or visit their web site @www.thebluemuleband.com

Fires, Karin DIVERSITY of LIFE Nature- Animals,

Wildlife Educators Coalition (WEC) brings a variety of live, exotic animals to your location and demonstrates some of the amazing variety of life found on this planet. We start with a general monologue about diversity and some surprising facts about life forms. We then go to the live animals, beginning with insects to lizards to snakes to tortoises & turtles. In this part, WEC volunteers carry different types of each species around the room so people can get up close and ask questions. Some of the animals can be touched. Volunteers with hand sanitizer follow. From there we go to our higher level animals--a cockatoo and a variety of mammals, culminating with a fun and educational visit from Maggie, our black-handed spider monkey.

We have several animals who have appeared or regularly appear in Dora the Explorer stories, for example. We have the tortoise and the hare and many others. If you are interested, please contact me for a complete list of available animals.

Frenette, Liza Visiting Author Interactive Workshops Literature- Creative Writing,
Literature- Authors,
Nature- Environment
My workshops are highly interactive and involve students coming to recognize the storyteller within themselves. Drawing on characters and events from my books - Soft Shoulders, Dangerous Falls Ahead and Dead End - we talk about storytelling in terms of singing, quilting, talking, poetry, and even finding new meaning in road signs. I focus on revision and research, telling students stories of how these came to shape my books in much different ways than I had expected. All of my books are set in the Adirondacks as realistic fiction, so my programs deal with nature, plants and trees - even bogs - unique to this area. I bring in maps, hand-stitched quilts and photographs of road signs. We do group story building and visualization.
