(Self-esteem show) As a motivational program for children, this presentation is aimed at boosting the self-esteem of every student in the audience. Students are brought onstage to assist and help perform the magic themselves. Magic, comedy and puppetry are combined to convey the following points: The uniqueness of each child. It’s not what’s on the “outside” that matters, it’s what’s on the “inside” that counts. Persistence: Never giving up no matter what! Why a positive attitude is important. Program includes a section on the topic of bulling. By the end of this show, your students will feel better about themselves while believing, at the same time, that virtually anything is possible for their lives.

With some friends of a feather, and a little help on the technical parts, Penguin follows his dreams to flip, flap, fly! With book by Cara Lustik, music by David Mallamud, and lyrics by Joshua H. Cohen, Flight School The Musical is based on the book Flight School from best-selling author Lita Judge.

Today, Hamilton, An American Musical is the hottest ticket on Broadway. As America’s first Secretary of the Treasury, Alexander Hamilton founded the U.S. financial system. His Federalist plan was quickly opposed by Anti-Federalists Thomas Jefferson and James Madison until a grand compromise was worked out. This program features music from the Broadway production including The Room Where it Happens and video from the Hamilton musical. Note: this is the sequel to the program Alexander Hamilton – The Musical and the Duel. The program includes six songs and video from Hamilton, An American Musical. (Music and video from public sources). A handout with detailed instructions titled How to Get Tickets to see Hamilton is included. Presenter: Rick Feingold teaches American Business History at Bergen Community College and holds a degree in History from Rutgers University. Equipment requirements: LCD projector. Presenter will provide laptop.

Taikoza presents a unique and exciting program using Japanese Taiko drums (that weigh up to 200lb drums) and bamboo flutes. The program will take you on an unforgettable journey through Japan. It will take students to different areas and through the seasons of Japan. Students will be experiencing a new culture in a fun and exciting way, they will get a chance to see and at times touch the ancestral drums. The taiko drum has the power to touch everyone with its thunderous sounds and vibrations. Taikoza hopes to open the students’ eyes to the richness of the Japanese culture and spark an interest. We hope that this will spark an interest in other world cultures. Taiko has been associated with many aspects of Japanese culture since ancient times. It is said that Taiko was used to drive away the plague and evil spirits. In the Shinto religion, it was used to call upon and entertain the gods, or kami, and in Japanese Buddhism, its sound was the manifestation of the voice of the Buddha.

A novelist and performing artist since 1991, Christine Kallevig folds giant-sized paper as she tells stories. Each fold represents an action, setting, or character, so by the time the story is over, a surprise origami figure is magically created. Included are audience fold-along activities, original material from her books, and origami adaptations of traditional folk tales. Christine uses music, humor, and large origami puppetry to dramatize the stories, and always finishes with an easy fold-along tale so that everyone has an origami souvenir to take home.

Watch children erupt into laughter and applause when Doctor VolCaino appears! Magician Ron Cain turns into a silly scientist for his new Fizztastic Science Magic Show, inspired by the summer reading theme, 'Fizz, Boom, Read! He performs illusions that celebrate science and highlight great scientists like Einstein and Edison. Plus, he encourages families to visit the library and read about his lab-coated heroes. Ron also teaches scientific principles behind the tricks of his trade in a Scientific Secrets of Magic workshop. Children learn simple magic tricks that involve chemistry, physics, biology, psychology and math. The former teacher and Syracuse University alum has specialized in educational magic since 1988. Children are active participants in shows related to reading, history, science, geography and ecology. Students also do hands-on activities that foster learning and self-esteem in his one-hour magical workshops. Ron also performs at schools, libraries, festivals, recreation programs and businesses year-round. His family-friendly, 45-minute magic shows are the highlight of special events & holiday celebrations. He even offers entertainment packages that include strolling magic and balloon sculptures.
