Spending a festive evening singing songs, building and playing musical instruments from recycled materials, and sharing a fun and engaging time with friends and neighbors is a sure way to raise interest in the library and strengthen community bonds. At the center of a Community Night (or Family Night) event is Ruth Pelham’s unique blend of exuberance, warmth, and wit that generates an atmosphere of friendship and belonging within a social and educational context. When mixed with her upbeat and empowering songs, what results is a circle of community in which everyone is valued and welcome, and all participants are involved in age appropriate ways. A Community or Family Night Concert or Event can involve particular ages or be open to the whole community and can be geared to a particular theme or occasion. Multicultural- Other, Music, Other	Cathy McGrath presents intergenerational folk music programs with seasonal themes, such as Christmas, Irish Christmas Traditions, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, July Fourth, Halloween and Thanksgiving that put a little spice in your cup of sing-along tea. She calls her music “Teakettle Music” because it is steeped in tradition, brewed at home, and shared with friends. An experienced folk music performer and family literacy teacher, with a specialty in traditional American singing games, Cathy uses guitar, banjo, limberjacks, flute, and penny whistle in her programs which are tailored for specific age groups. Bromka, Sondra & John	'One World, Many Instruments' Concert Show & Tell for Children, Families	Multicultural- Other, Music, Science	Created of wood, bone, skin, metals, and earth, it is an amazing thing to behold the many ways people around this globe have used nature’s materials to bring forth music! The Bromkas have a long history of first-hand explorations and experimentations with world music in its many forms. Their extensive travels have lead them to play a variety of truly exotic instruments, from a great many different countries and cultures. Audiences love their hurdy gurdy, hammered dulcimer, the wide variety of bagpipes, mandolins, cittern, and Celtic harps. This musical journey travels to the far reaches of Asia, to include the magical Chinese Harp called “guzheng” and “erhu” fiddle, Turkish oud & baglama, Mideastern zither “kanun,”and a raft of percussion and other rare instruments! Hear stories for each of their instruments and musical selections, be it travels in Europe and Asia, gifts from mysterious strangers, or the instruments built in the Bromkas' own studios. This multicultural musical journey is a fascinating, fun learning experience for folks of all ages.	$351- $500
Goldstein, Dana	Lady of Copper, the musical story of the Statue of Liberty and Immigration	History, Multicultural- Other, Performing Arts- Theater	Lady of Copper is the musical story of the Statue of Liberty and Emma Lazarus, the poet who composed the inspiring words on the statue's base "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free..." This show celebrates immigration and the diversity that makes America strong. Now in its 9th year, this original musical has been called "the best arts-in-education assembly we have ever had" (Arts Coordinator), "a great way to celebrate the values of America" (New York Times), and "a poignant reminder of everything for which we should be thankful" (Big Apple Parent). Geared for students in grades K-6, this fun and educational production is a perfect addition to any American History curriculum. In recent years, many schools have chosen the show as an educational and uplifting way to commemorate September 11th. The artists - in full, colorful, traditional Flamenco costumes - perform and explain the intricacies of Flamenco dance, song, and its rhythms. Participation from the audience is essential. The objectives of this program are: to show the origins of the flamenco dance, song and music; to demonstrate and relate the relationships between Spain and the Latin American cultures; and present a high quality, entertaining multilingual program. This dynamic program highlights the rhythms and emotions of Flamenco. Flamenco began in Southern Spain, and we bring to our educational programs the essence of the different culture that influenced Flamenco: Andalusian, Gypsy, North African, Arabic and Judaic. Unlike other art forms, the traditional dances do not tell stories but instead portray feelings. The program consists of a series of solos, duets and company numbers.	$501- $1000

Grandfather Frost weaves his magic through the Russian forest in a tale spun by Baba Yaga and her mischievous cat. Featuring Vladimir Vasyagin, our international artist in residence from Tomsk, Siberia, this traditional story introduces Russian heritage through its folk characters, music and unique style of puppetry.	$501- $1000

Grab your boarding passes and travel around the world with the award-winning musical storytelling duo, Tales ‘n Tunes. This sing-along, clap-along, highly interactive program will take us to many countries. Through folk tales and multicultural songs from around the globe, young readers will explore our cultural diversity while celebrating the common bonds we share with our neighbors throughout the world. It’s an exciting, lively and fun musical story event that encourages kids and their families to participate both from their seats and on stage. Lynda Folk, Little Folk's Music!	Little Folk's Music	Life Skills- Parenting, Multicultural- Other, Music	Little Folk’s Music is a natural approach to Language Acquisition, through multicultural vocal improvisation with the use of hand instruments comforted by physical rocking that sets a tempo. • Little Folk’s pedagogical based approach, discusses the four steps involved in this technique: (1) develop familiar, routine, singing patterns; (2) use a question and answer format; (3) use of daily motherease sounds (4) begin physical improvisation. • The class activities included yoga breath exercises that are developed around six categories: aural skills, rhythm activities, natural sound, vocal training, body percussion, dance technique. The structure: Beat; melodic phrasing; sound, time organization. • Music is a natural product of physical and intellectual learning. The patterning of a breathe with movement, Sounds become Little Folk’s accelerator. • Analytical of human communicative, sounds and behaviors, Little Folk’s Music guides families together with laughter and joy of family participation. A four-week class, that promotes Language Acquisition, Speech development, through Musical patterning which opens the cognitive window for literacy. Birth thru 5 years old.	$201- $350
