Co-written with input from all classes participating in the songwriting process. Additional songs are written as students are inspired by the "muse" in the classroom. Forty-five minutes per class works well for brainstorming, creating lyrics and melodies and voicemail recording with an iPod in the classroom. The school is presented with a CD-recording of their own School Song and a printout of lead sheet and lyrics. A celebratory assembly culminates the songwriting experience.

The PIPC is now over a century old. It was founded, at least overtly, on the premise of land preservation. But there were other hidden and nefarious agendas which would never be considered in this day and age. the PIPC has a long history, but much of it has not been recorded or reported. In more recent times it sdarker side has been revealed. A lecture and discussion of this and other aspects of PIPC development behind the scenes then and today.

This in-class workshop is presented by award winning and best-selling picture book illustrator and author, Elizabeth Sayles. Picture Books from A-Z This workshop shows how a picture book is made, beginning with the manuscript, and then the creation of thumbnail sketches, a dummy book, revisions, final sketches, finished art and finally the printed and bound book. Creating the artwork for a book is a lot of hard work, and its not always easy for pictures to come out just right. Drawings that didn’t work out too well, and many, many sketches are shown to demonstrate this. Drawing skills and craftsmanship are necessary to be able to create illustrations, but you also need imagination, memory, observation skills and a lot of reference material. Readings from the books are included. This workshop can be tailored for any age group, from k and up
