Additional songs are written as students are inspired by the "muse" in the classroom. Forty-five minutes per class works well for brainstorming, creating lyrics and melodies and voicemail recording with an iPod in the classroom. Sayles, Elizabeth	Picture Books from A-Z with Elizabeth Sayles	Literature- Creative Writing, Visual Arts- Drawing, Visual Arts- Other	This in-class workshop is presented by award winning and best-selling picture book illustrator and author, Elizabeth Sayles. Picture Books from A-Z This workshop shows how a picture book is made, beginning with the manuscript, and then the creation of thumbnail sketches, a dummy book, revisions, final sketches, finished art and finally the printed and bound book. Creating the artwork for a book is a lot of hard work, and its not always easy for pictures to come out just right. Drawings that didn’t work out too well, and many, many sketches are shown to demonstrate this. Drawing skills and craftsmanship are necessary to be able to create illustrations, but you also need imagination, memory, observation skills and a lot of reference material.
