I speak to children as fellow writers and share my passion for the power and pleasure of words and story. I urge children to turn their ideas, events and feelings into stories by observing carefully, using their imagination, and asking, what if? I show my messy notebooks and drafts to emphasize the value and pleasure of rewriting. With fun exercises and writing tips based on my many books, I aim to convince children that writing--whether fiction or nonfiction--is both rewarding and easy.
