Edgecomb, Diane Join In! History,
Multicultural- Other,
Performing Arts- Storytelling
Join In and travel around the world with these captivating multi-cultural legends. Each tale offers a participatory look at our common love of story. Celebrate engaging narratives, animal characters, songs in different languages and home-spun wisdom as one of New England’s favorite storytellers takes us from the heart of the Amazon rainforest to the villages of Africa on the wings of story, rhythm and song. “My family was at your amazing performance of “Join In” yesterday. It’s amazing how you bring together many aspects of art and present them for kids so they use their imagination to “see” all the characters you’re talking, dancing and singing about. Personally, I was very happy with your folktales about the rainforests. I’m from Brazil where we have a rich heritage from Africa and we live in the US where my son was born. We loved to hear “O Pião entrou na roda, ó pião! Roda pião, bambeia pião!”. I used to sing this song myself when I was kid. It was delightful. :~)” ~Marcia, Linden School, Malden, MA

Discover the Magic of Reading! can fill your library with thrilled children happily participating in the most amazing program they’ve ever seen! Children LOVE the magic, parents LOVE the positive messages, and Library directors LOVE the resulting increased book circulation!... The show combines amazing magic, lots of audience participation, age appropriate humor, storytelling with reading promotion, a magical game and typically a breathtaking musical routine with mesmerizing special effects! For slightly larger budgets, we can add spectacular illusion(s), such as, floating a child in the air, sawing somebody in half or making them magically appear to introduce the show. Children also go crazy for an incredible animated talking picture! This is an incredibly easy, fun way to hook kids into reading, and get them excited about your Summer Reading Club for example! Not just reading, but checking out & reading both fiction and non-fiction books. At the end of this exciting adventure I typically give the children a list of topics discussed and popular with youngsters, with their associated Dewey Decimal System Numbers! How many programs get kids to actively learn and use the Dewey Decimal System? Make your library glad!

I have many illusions and can fit a story or lesson into any one of them to fit your program. When I do performances at churches I have a religious slant to my tricks. When I do work with Veterans I have a military theme for my tricks. If you give me your theme I'll write up a program using my illusions to make the points needed to get across, and submit them to you before the performance for your approval. Thank you....

Stoll, Brian At the Barricades ~ Theatre Fans and the Stage Door Experience History,
Other,
Performing Arts- Theater
I will talk about the role theatre fans like myself have played in the theatre community over the centuries. I will share why die-hard theatre fans become repeat attenders and may see a production more than 900 times! In addition, I will inform patrons about the stage door experience which I briefly touched upon at the end of my last program, but was not able to go into detail. I consider stage-dooring to be the icing on the cake after attending a Broadway production. Stage-dooring is when theatre fans rush to the theater's stage door after a performance in hopes of meeting cast members and complimenting them on their performances. Many fans also try to obtain selfies with the stars and have their playbills autographed as keepsakes. In addition to sharing my own knowledge and experiences at many stage doors on Broadway I will include views and experiences from both sides of the barricade.
