A fold to the left, a fold to the right and look at what the children have created. The art of origami is taught with fantastic results. JOE FISCHER has developed special designs which are then transferred onto the paper. Now just fold on these numbered, preprinted lines and the origami is complete. No steps to remember - no folds in the wrong place - Just follow the patern. A great deal of research has gone into creating these designs so that every child will see positive results

Robin Brickman begins her program with a Power Point tour of her studio and explanation of her working process. Her books are created with a unique hand-sculpted painting technique that is demonstrated with photos and short movies. The combination of art and science is presented first. Then, students create a hand's on project of their own using Ms. Brickman's technique. This assembly is suitable to all ages and abilities and gives students and staff the confidence to hand sculpt paper on their own!

Etsy is a marketplace where creative entrepreneurs can sell their goods to people around the world. With over 18 years of small business and teaching experience I can teach anyone to set-up their own Etsy shop! I am a certified Etsy Craft Entrepreneurship trainer and have taught both business and hands-on craft programs at public libraries in upstate New York. This 3 hour Etsy Workshop can be taught at libraries, colleges, and community organizations. In this program participants will learn how to choose a shop name, get their products found in a search, photograph products, and price and ship items. Participants will leave the class with their shop started and with the tools to fully open their shop when they are ready. This program would be a great addition to your series of business classes or as part of your organizations computer class offerings. This class is for adults who make creative items or collect vintage items 20 years or older.

A two hour program that teaches everything you need to know about film-making in one shot. First we begin with the writing process, how to turn ones cinematic ideas into a written reality. We explore the differences between film and video, and examples of both mediums is given, comparing and contrasting various equipment. The participants then will learn how to light and shoot a scene. We also go over how to recruit talent, a crew and how to put a feature presentation together without compromising ones personal budget. This is a very good program for young adults and curious grown ups.

The traditional music of indigenous Australians holds a lot of meaning to their culture. Music is used to teach about nature, everyday tasks, history, etc. all learned by imitation and passed on without the written word. We will make our clap sticks from paint stirrers and decorate them with traditional dot painting. Listen and play along to this time-honored sound.

We explain how as Renaissance art styles moved through northern Europe, they were adapted to local customs. ArtScapades looks at Jan van Eyck, Hieronymus Bosch, Albrecht Dürer, Hans Holbein the Younger, and Pieter Bruegel the Elder. Approximately ten works per artist are discussed including iconic works plus those that illustrate significant trends and events in their lives and careers. Learn how to bind books in the oldest style known to date- Coptic Binding! Coptic books are sewn in a style that leave the sewing exposed, making them not only beautiful to look at, but also enabling them to lay completely flat for superior functionality. This ancient form of bookbinding, which originated in Northeast Africa, has seen a huge resurgence in popularity. Prerequisite: Previous bookbinding experience. The class is taught in steps, with the teacher displaying and explaining the step for the class and answering questions, and then breaking out into 'Do-It-Yourself (DIY)' times when the attendees perform the step on their own. During the DIY times, the teacher takes questions and helps anyone who needs individual help. Handouts explaining each step (with diagrams) are included for the attendees to reference throughout the program and take home. This program is taught by a professional book artist versed in both traditional and modern styles of bookbinding and book preservation. Students also benefit from the opportunity to work with traditional, handmade papers from Asia- in modern and traditional colors and patterns.

2009's MOST POPULAR PROGRAM! Participants are asked to imagine themselves as a super hero. By answering a series of questions, they develop a super hero persona. The answers are then used to draw themselves as the super hero they are! Cartooning, drawing, and creative writing and thinking are developed and refined during the program. Wild, zany answers are encouraged! All supplies are included.
