A two hour program that teaches everything you need to know about film-making in one shot. First we begin with the writing process, how to turn ones cinematic ideas into a written reality. We explore the differences between film and video, and examples of both mediums is given, comparing and contrasting various equipment. The participants then will learn how to light and shoot a scene. We also go over how to recruit talent, a crew and how to put a feature presentation together without compromising ones personal budget. This is a very good program for young adults and curious grown ups.

A traveler who explores the beautiful Aegean coastline of Turkey, known in antiquity as Asia Minor, will find some of the most spectacular ruined cities of the ancient Greeks. Anthropologist and Photographer Barry Kass' photos and descriptions will take the audience to such places as Miletus, Pergamon, and Ephesus, as well as the mystical Temple of Apollo at Didyma. We will also explore the site of ancient Troy, including a replica of the Trojan Horse, described in Homer's Iliad. The international city of Istanbul, known during Byzantine times as Constantinople, will provide us will an incredible variety of photogenic scenes, including views of the city from the Golden Horn of the Bosporus straits, the Haghia Sophia Church, Topkapi Palace, and the Blue Mosque of Sultan Ahmet I.

Kass, Barry A Trek in the Andes Mountains of Peru to the Land of the Ancient Incas History,

The PowerPoint lecture will take the audience to the Andes Mountains of Peru, where we will explore the Urubamba Valley, the Sacred Valley of the ancient civilization of the Incas. The ruins of the Inca cities of Cusco, Pisac and Ollantaytambo will be illustrated and described, as well as the famous lost city of the Incas, Machu Picchu. Prof. Kass's photos taken while hiking the Inca Trail through the mountains and jungles of the Andes to the fabled city of Machu Picchu will be featured. Prof. Kass will explain the rise of the Incas, their development as a mighty civilization in South America, and their destruction by the Spanish conquistadors under Francisco Pizarro.

Mankita, Jay Build A Better Rube Goldberg Machine Workshop - Build A Better World 2017! Media- Other,

Artist/Educator Jay Mankita guides and inspires kids to construct delightfully complicated contraptions that accomplish simple tasks. Jay supplies dominos, popsicle sticks, magnets, rubber bands, string, balls, marbles, etc…, set up includes Jay’s basic table and floor-based templates as well as some pre-constructed machines for kids to study and play with, with plenty of opportunities for making, and learning from, their own mistakes. Goofy fun, and real engineering, with a bit of Rube Goldberg history thrown into the mix.

Crocker, Keith The Golden Age of Hollywood Musicals - Song and Dance History,

I've been asked so many times about doing a program like this, and here it finally is! We will be watching clips from classic movie musicals beginning with the early days of Busby Berkeley and his pre-psychedelic choreographed dance numbers. We will follow the development of the movie musical with footage of Carmen Miranda, Judy Garland, Fred Astaire , Gene Kelly, and classic films such as Singing in the Rain, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Sound of Music and so much more. So put on your dancing shoes and get your baritone voice ready, it's time to celebrate the Hollywood musical in all its glory!

This program focuses on the influence of Jewish immigrants on the United States film culture during the Golden Age of Hollywood and will highlight examples of Producers (Samuel Goldwyn, Carl Laemmle), Directors (Billy Wilder, Otto Preminger) and Actors (Kirk Douglas, Peter Lorre), Actresses (Lauren Bacall, Shelley Winters). Utilizing clips of rare interviews and intimate moments we will draw a broad portrait of the Jewish immigrant experience and it's effect on the history of motion pictures.
