Music
The Songs to Start a Fire “Magic Circle” Workshop brings the participants together in a circle to co-create an atmosphere of safety, healing, and possibility. Today we are faced with constant messages about how to act, feel, and look. The songs and exercises in this workshop put the power back where it belongs: in our own hearts and minds. Inside the circle, participants find the safety and support they need to give voice to their fears and struggles. As we share and sing with the group, we begin to break down the walls of isolation and self-doubt. Through positivity, honesty and raised voices, participants find the compassion to befriend themselves, and the courage to become their own hero.

Laura Ingalls Day is a compilation of programs normally taught in a 1 hour block, designed for a kickoff or finale to summer reading, or an event that will bring in patrons during the winter. Starting with sugaring off, we will make sugar on snow, then move onto fresh butter, cheese, and sourdough bread. Next we will plant a garden on the library grounds or start transplants for growing on the windowsill. We can wash up with home made old fashioned lye soap, and hand dip candles. Wrap it all up by meeting farm animals and learning to care for them just like Laura and Mary. Based on book: Little House in the Big Woods, by Laura Ingalls Wilder, this program can incorporate reading the book and eating between stations. The program can last 4-8 hours, depending on age group and individual or combinations of stations.

Latta, Tim Lattawork/Motion 360 Life Skills- Other,
Performing Arts- Clowning,
Performing Arts- Dance
Is it theater? Is it dance? Is it circus? It’s all of these and more. It’s a performance for now- a new way of looking at creative thinking and how we can use it in our daily lives- in schoolwork, interactions with peers, building self esteem, confidence and tolerance. Everything and everyone around us has a story to tell and the potential to teach us something. In Motion 360, Tim Latta (former Pilobolus, Momix, Faustwork) demonstrates how we can, literally, stumble over everyday objects to unlock our creativity and help us discover what those stories can be. He creates dance/theatre pieces using objects that range from the ordinary (rollerblades and chairs) to the extraordinary (stilts, masks and milk cans!). While entertaining the audience, Mr. Latta is also teaching a whole new process of exploration. We learn that everything in the world around us can be used as a tool for creative problem solving. This process can be used in a classroom, a workplace and throughout our lives. Motion360 will leave audiences saying, “I can”. “Tim’s commitment to teaching and nurturing creativity in young people is obvious and infectious.” (All ages)
