North Shore Theatre Group presents Greg Oliver Bodine in POE, TIMES TWO -- a double bill of one-man, stage adaptations of 'The Cask of Amontillado' and 'The Black Cat' by Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849). These two plays are staged back-to-back with minimal set and lighting effects, and are performed without an intermission in an hour. One actor. Two classic horror stories! Suitable for Ages 10 - Adult. A fun evening or afternoon of good old-fashioned thrills, chills and all things spooky -- a must-see for Poe enthusiasts and fans of mystery and horror. South African-born songwriter and musician, Toby Tobias, is excited to be performing an original show in various venues on the East Coast and in the Midwest called 'Journey from Johannesburg'. It is a performance which tells the story of his journey through 3 continents and takes the form of his original songs interspersed with small narrated vignettes about his life growing up in Johannesburg, South Africa and Jerusalem, Israel and finally New York, USA. The show's message is one of racial equality, understanding of each other's cultures and religions and a strong desire for togetherness in a world which seeks to divide rather than bring together.

Perfect for A Universe of Stories Summer Reading Program Theme 2019. Dig deep into a cave of the earth--the Sun has been captured by a Fearsome Dragon and hidden away. The HERO of our tale is Bawshou, a young man who courageously rises to the challenge of freeing the Sun. With the help of a golden phoenix, a small parcel of earth, a magic robe, and a heroic dream, Bawshou travels afar to seek out and rescue the Sun, for the good of his people and all the land. Children actively participate as they portray the flowing river, the sounds of the sea, the playing of the gong, the dancing stars, and much much more! The artists evoke a magical atmosphere in this important Chinese tale, employing authentic oriental techniques and traditions including stylized dramatic forms and movement, mythology, exotic costumes, and unusual musical sounds. Chinese folk instruments (erhu, p’i p’a, guzheng harp, sona, Chinese Theatre drum, flutes & whistles, and gong) are featured, combining to make this unforgettable performance piece a joyous celebration of oriental culture. 'Bawshou' was commissioned by the Springfield MA Museum of Fine Arts in 1994. (see accompanying Chinese Dragon Mask Workshop/Parade).

She moves students beyond the basics of plot, and gets them to enjoy the emotional impact stories create. Using a humorous yet touching story from her own past, Pamela has motivated teens (and adults!) from all walks of life to share their stories.

edmond, howard iroquois tales and legends Performing Arts- Storytelling
Tales and legends of the Iroquois with a wraparound of discussion of life in the longhouse and when the stories were told. Session begins with playing of native american flute to set the mood. Done with reverence and respect for Haudenausaunee (people of the longhouse) tradition.
