Gary Feldman, consumer food educator, will teach you the crucial differences between organic and conventional food, and give you the vital knowledge you need to become a savvy “green” teen. Gary will answer your questions regarding organic food. Learn the meaning of organic and how organic food is grown. Learn the connection between how conventional food is grown and why so many of us develop brittle bones. Learn about various organic certifications to look for on food labels, and how to decode produce stickers. Organic food – costs too much? Overrated? This program will provide young adults with much resourceful information on how to shop for organic food including the most reasonably priced and nutritious food choices.

Most people use the web every day — shouldn’t we expect them to do better at interpreting what they read there? This presentation will have explore the many tools that can be used to search for the truth

How did people keep their food through the winter before there was refrigeration, or even before Napoleon invented canning? Learn how to make sauerkraut and other homemade foods preserved by using lacto-fermentation, an ancient preservation method used by Vikings. Unlock not only vitamins and minerals, but also enhance gut health by incorporating probiotics into your diet! Participants can watch their choice of fermentation project at the library and taste the final product when complete. They will learn the skills to make their own at home, and try a variety of Viking foods at the end of the presentation. Jump with Jill is a professional live show that travels the country transforming nutrition education into a rock & roll nutrition concert. The school assembly takes childhood obesity by storm, serving as a kid-appropriate approach for kicking off wellness committee initiatives, reinforcing classroom learning, and supporting a healthier cafeteria menu. The show is both educationally sound and completely rock & roll. Armed with catchy songs, upbeat dance moves, and a hip wardrobe, Jump with Jill uses the same tools normally used to sell junk food and keep kids sedentary to get kids engaged, moving, and learning about healthy habits. The live Jump with Jill show has been performed live 3,000 times for almost a million kids all over the United States, Canada, and Europe.

This can be a community service program where we donate and participants can try a sample.

At certain points in one's life, it may become important to heal, to “empty” or “clean house” internally, in order to release old, worn-out beliefs, patterns, negative thought processes and unwarranted fears. Shamanic Journeying is the perfect way to heal old hurts, even stubborn ones, in order to experience wholeness and optimal health and well-being. Each workshop has a unique theme. Examples of themes are Seasons of the year, elements of Nature, such as water, essences of particular plants, such as pine from the forest, etc. I may lead students through a series of very gentle Yoga stretches and breathing techniques to help them to relax. We then transition into Shamanic Journeying, in order to get in touch with our innate wisdom and sense of perfect wholeness. In this state of consciousness, it becomes possible for students to gain profound insights into their own lives, those of their friends and loved ones, as well as the wider world in which we all live. Journeying as a group helps to create a safe, secure and supportive environment, in which an individual feels validated in her/his own experience.
