In this program you will learn why knowing how a food is processed, preserved and packaged can have an even greater impact upon our weight than traditional counting of calories, carbs and fat grams. There are numerous substances that make their way into everyday food that play tremendous havoc on metabolism – not necessarily the food itself. Gary Feldman, consumer food educator and innovator in the retail nutritional supplement field, will discuss not only culprits in your food to avoid, but also important foods to include in your diet. Gary will show you how to weigh in on many of the things that sabotage weight management.

China is the birthplace of tea and it was discovered almost 5,000 years ago. During this interactive seminar, we will explore several black teas from different provinces in China. Learn what distinguishes the black teas of China from black teas in other countries, specific health benefits associated with black tea, and the history and lore surrounding the teas being tasted. Three Chinese black teas will be tasted and discussed.

Licensed nail technician and State Examiner available to teach (children, tweens, young adults, and adults in groups of 20 how to manicure, decorate and take care of their nails like a professional. Fun group atmosphere! Nail kits provided. The nail kit includes a nail file, buffer block, orange wood stick, nail polish, and a variety of decorations.

Welcome to the world of horses! Children and adults alike are fascinated by these majestic creatures, and the experiences with them can be magical! Spending time around horses and ponies has been proven in many studies to be therapeutic on many levels both physically and emotionally. The bond can be quite powerful and healing, but where to start? It is important to know the nature of a horse, how to properly handle them on the ground as well as while riding. Proper care and feeding, tack fitting, and maintenance will be discussed as well. This is all taught out of the American Association for Horsemanship Safety manual by Jan Dawson. Katie, our real life miniature horse will be available to be pet, groomed, and for demonstration of safety techniques. “Nutrition Mission” is a forty-five minute musical program featuring a balanced portion of healthy, scientific facts plus a generous helping of music, humor and participation. The students love the Puffball-Snowball Fight, developed by a leading childhood expert and stories like “The Carrot Seed”. They also love seeing their parents or teachers on stage during the blues-inspired, “Five Fruits”. Plenty of audience interactivity make this show a five-star, can’t miss event! The main "ingredients" or themes are: 1. To find balance in our food choices 2. To eat five servings of fruits and vegetables per day 3. To drink more water 4. To participate in fun, healthy exercise (one hour/day) 5. To eat more locally grown foods 6. To limit snacks and sugary sweets & drinks 7. To eat more whole grains 8. To talk more about nutrition and wellness with their families

Pu-erh tea is the most unique tea produced in the world. During this interactive seminar, we will explore several Pu-erh teas from the Yunnan province of China. Learn about how Pu'erh differs from the teas in other categories, specific health benefits associated with Pu-erh, and the history and lore surrounding the teas being tasted. Three teas will be tasted and discussed including: Pu-erh loose leaf; Pu-erh Tuo Cha; and Chrysanthemum Pu-erh.

Every patron prepares the meals being presented, and will leave with a serving of each item. The goal is to teach everyone easy tricks for prepping meals, so they can stay on track with their health, so patrons are asked to bring questions! MENU (is determined by the current season) Come join us and get your organics on, and learn how to make simple and fun recipes! Ask questions on substitutions for allergies/sensitivities, overall health, and anything else food-related. I do have a Food Handling Permit and business licensing for proper food safety & handling.
