Gigi, an award winning singer who has appeared on many major stages and concert halls, will lead the audience in interactive games, stories and songs based around Dr. Seuss. I am delighted to introduce my newest program, which may be offered to students of all ages depending on the parameters of your program.
The objective of the Peace Project is to foster compassion, respect and peaceful conflict resolution amongst peers within the context of the classroom. In these age-appropriate workshops, students will discover the importance of celebrating cultural diversity and promoting compassion in the world, as well as developing the invaluable skill of peaceful conflict resolution.
These classes may be offered to students once or on an ongoing basis. Workshops would incorporate the following activities:
Book reading at the beginning of each class followed by a sharing circle
Creative writing based on a different theme, which will vary from one class to another
Unique art projects/crafts designed to help promote peace and encourage collaborative efforts among students
Introduction to music from diverse cultures around the globe
Unique games that encourage co-operative group participation

Beginning: How to draw great characters, brainstorm, and create a ‘voice’ for characters.
Middle: Kids interactively establish plot, setting, and conflict.
End: Children edit and re-write the story and create a resolution!
Assemblies: Katie teaches story construction, sequencing, how ideas transform from thought to published book. Kids learn to do drawings of emotions, Katie shares her mistakes, and teaches skills students can use when creating their own stories.
K-3: Highly interactive: children help write a story; volunteers make different emotional expressions. Katie draws their faces on the characters and together they create a new narrative with emphasis on beginning, middle and end.
4-6: Workshops: brainstorming, plotting, descriptive narrative, and character development. Illustration: teaches kids HOW TO SEE so they’re able to illustrate any story they write.
