Performers and Programs

Program Information

Program name: Make a Mini Moonscape Puppet Theater of Paper & Popsicle Sticks
Program category: Performing Arts- Puppetry
Performing Arts- Storytelling
Visual Arts- Crafts
Program length: 1 hr
Audience level: Family
Audience size: 25 plus caregivers
Program description: I’ll bring prepared card stock, templates to color, popsicle sticks and other supplies (if you can help with scissors, crayons and glue sticks, that would be great) to make it fun and easy for your patrons to make this beautiful and clever puppet theater. Ask me to send you a photo or see it at They will also get professional tips on how to make up their own stories to use with it. (Help me celebrate 30 years as a professional storyteller this year!) Super fun and easy! What I think is really special about this-- It’s easy to do, fun to make and amazing when finished (so kids will love it) It works as a toy and puppet theater that is easy to transport, even use on a car trip (so parents will love it) It encourages kids to tell stories—to think visually, consider characters and solve problems (so librarians and story lovers will love it)
Space/special requirements: The usual community room with tables will work fine. No need to cover tables, but it makes pick-up quick!
Travel restrictions: Ask, please. Have Buick, will travel, within reason
Program fee: $351- $500
Is this fee negotiable? Yes
Mileage included? No
If no, cost per mile: $0.58
Notes about the fee: Usually $425/negotiable plus mileage. Please ask.
Other notes: I designed this for summer reading in 2019--A Universe of Stories. When I did a Fairy House craft (still available), the rooms were jammed, so I went for another craft/story combo, this time with puppets. The way the popsicle-stick puppets (alien, rocket ship and astronaut) slide in slots in the other world scene is so clever and simple, it looks like great fun and engenders story making. Best for ages 5 up with caregivers and younger siblings if needed.
