Program description: Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, a novel of Gothic horror turns 200 years old in 2018. Join us in a birthday celebration as we examine the cinematic adaptations of Shelley's problem child. Starting with Thomas Edison's 1910 adaptation, and following through with Universal Pictures classic with Boris Karloff, we come up to the present while viewing clips of films based on Shelley's work. We will also examine a plethora of movie memorabilia as we discuss the importance of Mary's novel and its various incarnations of the silver screen. From Karloff to Christopher Lee to Robert DeNiro, we will explore it all and bask in the glory of Mary Shelley's timeless masterpiece.
